Job Summary:

· This position is based in Wichita, KS at the Textron Aviation Employees’ Flying Club (TAEFC). The intern will first get an introduction and overview of the policies and procedures of the TAEFC. Following the intern will assist the Flying Club with aircraft maintenance (mainly 50 hour and 100 hour inspections) and other daily operations necessary to maintain safe and efficient shop supporting the flight school. The intern will also job shadow in other departments as arranged with their supervisor.

Responsibilities:

· Participates in planning and executing programs that support daily operations.

· Performs maintenance on TAEFC aircraft under supervision of Flying Club inspectors and mechanics.

· Assists in 50 hour and 100 hour inspections, troubleshooting, and diagnosis of maintenance issues involving aircraft structures, systems and engines.

· Removes and or disables defective parts/ assembles and installs replacement parts, components and subassemblies on TAEFC aircraft.

· Completes all necessary maintenance records and paperwork as required by FAA regulations and Club procedures.

· Reads and interprets technical manuals, drawings and blueprints to perform the required maintenance tasks.

· Visits supporting departments, learns of their needs and supports them as best as possible.

· Performs tasks required to maintain a safe and efficient maintenance operation such as shop cleaning, fueling of aircraft and maintenance of shop facilities.

Qualifications

Education:

· Working toward completion of a four year engineering or aviation related degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Position Requirements:

* A passion for Aviation Maintenance

* Pursing an A&P License preferred

* Ability to operate hand tools, power tools and measuring instructions necessary to perform job assignments

* Previous mechanical experience preferred

* Outstanding customer service skills

* Excellent English verbal and written communication skills

* Strong customer service, interpersonal and communication skills

* Knowledge of business and management principles

* Ability to coach others

* Leadership potential

* Ability to work independently
