COMPANY INFORMATION

The position is located at FlightSafety Simulation - Visual Systems in St. Louis, Missouri, a company specializing in the design, development, and build of high fidelity visual systems used in commercial and military aviation programs. Our VITAL visual systems are integrated into complex fixed base and full six degree of freedom motion based simulator training systems and provide the images pilots see out of their windows during simulated flight. Visual Systems has been an industry leading developer and manufacturer of real-time 3D graphics systems for more than 40 years.

JOB DUTIES

Responsible for developing and improving 3D synthetic environment and models to be used in real-time visual systems. This includes design and development of 3D moving models, feature models, special effects, and terrain.

Utilizes maps, photography, satellite imagery, and digital mapping data to create realistic pilot training scenarios with correct specifications; Utilizes modeling platforms in conjuction with MultiGen, PhotoShop, and ArcInfo; Develops computer graphics to show new functionality of system; Assists in documentation for maintaining libarary of visual database models; Completes other job functions as required.

The successful candidate will be a skilled team player, with a passion for computer graphics and aviation, and the ability to effectively contribute to the development of the industry’s best visual simulation system.

This position is required to create geographically correct terrain, along with functional airports, city skylines and specific landmarks that are used by pilots for training purposes.

Constructs accurate and efficient 3D models with a low polygon budget, creates large 3-D real world areas, create high fidelity representations of airport complexes and military mission areas.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and REQUIREMENTS

Associate’s degree in Computer Aided Design (CAD) or computer based graphic arts and three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in the following areas a plus: Presagis Creator, Presagis TerraVista, ESRI ArcView, Adobe Photoshop, 3-D Design, 3-D Animation, 3-DS Max, 3-D graphics

Experience in the aviation industry preferred.

Must be self-motivated, conscientious, organized and detail-oriented; and have strong analytic and problem solving skills.

A great portfolio should include wireframe images of your models.
