Unique Skills:

Candidates must have the following: Aerospace experience is required. Aviation Electrical/Electronic Systems experience is required.

Candidate must possess the knowledge and experience in:
1) Applied Mathematics related to aircraft dynamics for avionic systems
2) Developing software for Real-Time System environments with interrupts
3) Software and hardware experience with Digital Signal Processors, FPGAs, and/or Microcontrollers
4) Experience using emulators and simulators for debugging processors
5) Strong Linux Operating System knowledge and experience
6) Experience with the following software programs: MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++/C#, Assembly Language, VHDL/Verilog HDL, GLstudio, ADA95, scripting languages including PERL
7) Ability to generate Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) for both Windows and Linux Operating systems
8) Ability to take ownership of tasks and develop solutions to complex problems with minimal supervision
9) Strong understanding of all parts of the software life cycle
10) Experience following rigorous established processes to assure the software/system to DO-178B/C standards

Desired experience and familiarity in:
•Experienced using bench equipment; oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, in-circuit emulators, debuggers
•Experience developing, integrating, and documenting software for avionics or other safety-critical applications
•Experience with the usage of test equipment to help verify and troubleshoot software.
•Experience with DO-178 and DO-254 certification processes.
•Familiar with measuring and verifying executable code performance
•Familiar with Human Machine Interface prototyping

The following knowledge is preferred:
• MATLAB/Simulink software, C/C++/C#, Assembly programming languages, VHDL/Verilog HDL, Linux OS
• PWB CCA layout procedures and techniques
• Electrical Components including processors and FPGAs along with passives

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelors degree in engineering, a related curriculum, or equivalent combination of appropriate education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. See Other Requirements in Job Description. 13 yrs specific technical discipline or 15 yrs broad eng experience in several technical disciplines with Bachelors. Experience credit considered for related adv degrees limited to 2 yrs for Masters and 4 yrs for PhD in fields applicable to this job.

Position Purpose:

Works on engineering projects containing critical problems, the solution of which requires major technological advances and extensive related development

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions: 1. Responsible for an entire engineering project of major complexity within established scope 2. Makes technical decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on extensive engineering activities 3. Applies advanced technical principles, theories and concepts based on broad expertise or unique specialized knowledge 4. Leads the development of innovative principles and ideas 5. Acts independently to determine improved methods and/or procedures to optimize technical product, cost and schedule requirements 6. Works under consultative direction; uses independent judgment to accomplish objectives 7. Develops standards and guides for diverse engineering activities 8. Conceives and plans investigation of broad areas of importance for which engineering precedents are lacking in areas critical to the program
