Lead Station Agents promote and sell air travel for American Eagle, American Airlines and/or one of our contracted carriers. Lead Agents conduct agent observations and associated activities. Responsible for scheduling, manpower utilization as well as maintaining a safe, dependable and consistent operation. Leads will administer local training programs. Maintain supplies and inventory control logs as well as prepare customer correspondence, investigates discrepancies and compiles statistical data for reports. Assists management in the completion of administrative duties and acts as a company representative when assigned.
Lead Agents perform Station Agent work as required. Station Agent work includes but is not limited to: answering inquiries regarding general travel information, prepare itineraries, compute fares, prepare/issue tickets/refunds, check baggage and collect excess baggage charges in accordance with tariff rules. Agents perform duties in the departure lounges or at boarding gates when enplaning and deplaning passengers. Station Agents also escort passengers from the terminal to and from aircraft ensuring a safe path at all times. Additionally, Station Agents perform the loading and unloading of cargo on and off aircraft, transport cargo between terminals and aircraft; physical handling of freight and company material, clean and service cabin interiors, including cockpit, lavatories and draining lavatories. Station Agents also provide guideman functions, use X-ray equipment and other safety related equipment and provides de-icing service to the aircraft when needed.
In this role, good organizational and interpersonal skills are necessary. Must be comfortable organizing workgroups and comfortable handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The ability to demonstrate above-average qualities of leadership, initiative and judgment are essential.
