As a Aircraft Interiors Estimating Engineer you will be working directly with Engineering, Purchasing and Sales teams providing quotations for the aircraft interior modifications industry. The successful candidate will ideally have a thorough working knowledge of aerospace engineering specifically relating to interior equipment construction techniques and principles for large aircrafts. An Engineering qualification is essential in addition to organizational and communication skills.
A working knowledge of FAA ODA organization would be beneficial but not essential. You will be working in a fast paced environment, requiring the candidate to be able to manage their workload, priorities and meet deadlines effectively. Positions located in Long Beach or San Diego.
KEY AREA OF RESPONSIBILITIES: • Working with the Sales team to review Customer requests for proposal to ascertain whether the request falls within the business’ strategy, experience and capability. • Working with all stakeholders to establish ‘bid’ or ‘no bid’ decision for proposals. • Compiling comprehensive statements of work. • Establish assumptions required and limitations based on proposal scope. • Define initial resource strategy and compile preliminary Bill of Materials for cost analysis. • Create sketches in support of the proposal. • Create hours and cost estimates for the statement of work defined. • Working with departments/specialists to collate task hours. • Collating all information into the proposal cost sheet and obtaining sign off. • Support tracking of active RFP’s. • Support Kick-off meetings to ensure work scope and budgets are clearly communicated. • Must have an ability to communicate with all levels of staff and management is essential. • Must be proficient in MS Office applications. • Experience with generating design documentation and proposals, providing cost and schedule estimates. • Ability to travel for training and/or customer interface, sometimes on short notice.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum, Degree and/or at least 15 years' experience in related commercial aircraft design fields desired.
