Job Description

Avionics technician applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents.  Examples of such problems include determining the location and density of circuitry, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering changes.  Work typically requires an understanding of the interrelationships of circuits, exercising independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow, using complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment.  Work may be reviewed by supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices.  This position may provide technical guidance to lower level technicians.

 

Performs aircraft bench and/or flight line operational testing, troubleshooting to the LRU level or applicable wiring, adjustment, repair  and installation of any complex or non-complex aircraft electrical or electronic system in the testing, development, repair, alignment and modification of aircraft and related systems in accordance with DOD, manufacturer, company, supplier and other directives.

    

Performs assembly, installation, check-out physical characteristics, operational testing and modification of wire bundles in the testing, development and modification of aircraft in accordance with DOD, manufacturer, company, supplier and other directives.

 

Responsible for the proper performance of assignments and the prudent handling of product, tools and equipment. Will be required consult with management and peers to assess best work process. Will assist and train less senior employees. May be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects. Will perform all duties of lower Avionics classifications as required to successfully accomplish assignments.

Qualifications 
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R § 120.15 required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
 
This position requires an active (or ability to obtain) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
 
This position will require the ability to obtain a security clearance with a favorable Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) or T5 Investigation and customer approval as a condition of employment.

 

  • If applicable, please clearly indicate on resume highest level of US Security Clearance obtained along with date received.
  • Please clearly indicate on resume your aircraft platform experience. 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED):

 

  • Position requires  more than 7 years of experience in those duties as previously described for satisfactory performance. 
  • Knowledgeable in shop mathematics and practices, electrical/electronic theories and avionics systems.
  • Experience in working with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings and standard operating procedures.
  • Proficient in computer skills including but not limited to: aircraft related systems and basic office software.  

 

PREFERRED:

  • Current US Security Clearance at the secret level or higher; Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) is ideal
  • Experience with Very Important Person (VIP) aircraft or specialty aircraft interiors installations within the last ten (10) years.
  • FAA certification in Airframe and/or Power plant AND minimum of ten (10) years’ experience is preferred
