What does a (Job Title) do for Allegiant?

The Aircraft Structures Engineer maintains compliance of the airframe and structural components to the aircraft TCDS. The Structures Engineer ensures that all new ICA’s, Modifications and Repairs to the aircraft are within the bounds of the TCDS or are FAA
Approved via Major Repair, Major Alteration, or an STC.

What are some of the responsibilities of a Structures Engineer?

* Research and develop engineering documentation (Engineering Orders) to incorporate Airworthiness Directives and Mandatory Service Bulletins into the Allegiant Fleet.

* Research and analyze new/existing Structures ALI tasks and their impact to the Allegiant Fleet.

* Design and substantiate permanent and/or temporary repairs (Engineering Repair Orders) for AOG damage on a time limited basis.

* Design, substantiate and obtain approval for Permanent Major Repairs and/or Major alterations.

* Provides oversight and engineering expertise to contracted repair agencies conducting heavy maintenance and/or structural repairs to aircraft components

* Coordinates repair/alteration plans with Materials/Purchasing, Coordinate with Maintenance Planning and Maintenance Control.

* Coordinate with aircraft heavy maintenance vendors to ensure the appropriate repair and documentation is used as the basis for structural repairs or alterations.

* Work remotely or on-site with line maintenance and heavy maintenance to develop reliability initiatives to reduce cost and aircraft downtime.

* Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Structures Engineering

What are the minimum requirements to be a Structures Engineer?

* B.S. Degree in engineering, engineering sciences or aeronautics required.
* Five years’ experience as a structures engineer in an airline/aerospace engineering environment.

* Must pass a five (5) year background check and pre-employment drug screen
* Must have authorization to work in the U.S. as defined in the Immigrations Act of 1986

* Ability to obtain a SIDA badge

What Additional Knowledge and skills are needed to be a Structures Engineer?

* Preferred 7-10 years’ experience in an Airline or OEM Structures or Liaison engineering environment.

* Familiarity with FAA Major Repair and Alteration approval process, obtaining 8110-3 or 8100-9 approvals.

* Familiarity with STC process.
* Familiarity with Operator Produced Parts, PMA
* Knowledge of aircraft structural repair design,
* Knowledge of and ability to understand OEM Structural Repair Manuals (SRM)
* Familiarity with composite repair techniques
* Knowledge of an ability to research AD’s relating to DTA, CPCP and Aging Aircraft

What are the physical requirements of a (Job Title)?

* Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work in a maintenance shop environment. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (High Visibility clothing, Ear protection, safety glasses) when required
