If invited for an interview, you must be able to attend an on-site group screening interview at the Lihue Airport on the morning of Monday, July 10, 2017 and if invited, a final screening interview on the afternoon on the same day. Interviews will be held only on this date and you must be able to attend in-person. Travel to the interview and any subsequent relocation expenses are the responsibility of the candidate. This requisition is for the Lihue Ramp Services Pool ONLY. Positions are typically posted 3 - 4 weeks prior to the recruitment event and posted for a limited time only. Please monitor our current openings page and apply for those positions when it is posted.

Work Schedule:

During training: Up to 10 days full-time, Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm. Training will be conducted in our offices in Honolulu and is unpaid. Transportation to and from training is provided. We are seeking candidates to attend training in August

If hired: shifts and schedules vary by position and are awarded on seniority basis. Shifts may be either part-time, full-time (both 5 days on, 2 days off) or reserve on-call (on-call where you must be available within a 12 hour window and able to report to work within 2 hours of being called).  Part-time is 20 - 30 hours per week and may be extended up to 40 hours per week based on operational need. With the exception of on-call, work schedules for part-time and full-time are set, however, may change throughout the year in conjunction with the collective bargaining agreement.

Candidates with restrictions in their availability will not continue in the recruitment process.

Pay & Benefits:

In conjunction with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, pay for all positions is $10.71 per hour. Medical, dental, vision and Hawaiian Airlines flight benefits are offered for part-time and full-time positions.  Only Hawaiian Airlines flight benefits are offered for on-call positions.

About the Airport Ramp Services Pool:
We recruit candidates to fill current and anticipated future needs at the Lihue Airport. Successful candidates are placed into a hiring pool through January 31, 2018 and are invited to attend training as training needs arise. If and when contacted, you will be advised of when the training date is. Training is for up to two weeks (typically Monday – Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm) and is unpaid. Training is held at our Corporate Offices in Honolulu.  The order in which candidates are invited to training is 1) overall interview score (highest to lowest) and 2) all things being equal, the date and time of application.

Ramp Agent Duties:

Performs any one or combination of ramp operations duties necessary to provide assistance to a higher classification. Such duties shall include, but will not be limited to:

  • Loading, stowing and unloading of all cargo and baggage in accordance with flight loading plans
  • Pick-up and delivery of all cargo, including mail, express, baggage, freight Company material, commissary supplies
  • Preparation, reporting and accounting of necessary documents relating to work performed
  • Cleaning of aircraft baggage pits and immediate work areas
  • Operation of automotive equipment in connection with the above duties, and only after proper training
  • Insert and remove chocks and safety lines
  • When mechanical personnel are not immediately available for the assignment, receive and dispatch aircraft
  • May also be required to perform the duties of Cleaners: limited to cleaning of offices in surrounding areas and aircraft. Such duties may be assigned only as the needs of the service require.

Candidates who interviewed and were not selected for the Airport Ramp Services and Cleaner Pool at ANY location must complete the six month waiting period and are not eligible to apply for this recruitment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • ​Must be able to frequently lift 70 lbs., and up to 120 lbs. occasionally
  • Must be able to push and pull up to 180 lbs.
  • Must be able to constantly work in Weather / Extremes of Hot / Noise Intensity / Vibration / Atmosphere (Dust, Fumes, Mists, Gases, Poor Ventilation) / Mechanical Parts (Moving Machinery) / Heights
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Possess strong two-way communication skills (sending and receiving information)
  • Working knowledge of PC Windows
  • Able to fluently read, write, speak and understand English
  • Able to work in stressful situations and tight time constraints
  • Be self-motivated and a team player
  • Able to successfully complete a background investigation, including FBI fingerprints, criminal history and pre-employment drug test and obtain clearances to work at the airport
  • Satisfactory completion of Dangerous Goods and Hazard Communication training
