JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for managing all Business Analysts and QA/Test resources. Partner with Application Delivery Leaders (ADLs) to ensure projects and production work are staffed with highly skilled Business Analysts and Quality Analysts. Apply requirements, business analysis, and quality assurance process discipline (best practices) across IT. Develop, continuously improve, and mature Analysis capability with the goal of becoming best in class. Partner with ADLs and Business Partners to ensure Business Analysis, Requirements, and Quality Assurance practices are effective and valuable. Enable and ensure project delivery with predictable cost, predictable schedule, and predictable quality. Develop and deploy methods and procedures, and champion and verify end-to-end product and process quality across IT. Engage ADLs & stakeholders in all aspects of business analysis and quality assurance for their applications.

30%: Strong people leadership with the ability to attract, develop, coach, and mentor team members to build a highly engaged, highly skilled, high performing, innovative, and productive team. 
10%: Forecasts and estimates team budgets and resources to form an appropriate size and structure
20%: Manages the following components: a) Requirements elicitation and requirements definition leveraging best practices. b) Analyzing applications: Maintains applications' functional integrity and requirements. Identifies and analyzes changes resulting from new requirements or defect fixes and provides subject matter expertise. c) Managing releases: Facilitates production changes, ensures their compliance with established quality controls, provides visibility around all ongoing and planned changes and communicates impact to stakeholders. d) Accountable & Ownership for Process & Product Quality Assurance (PPQA): Ensures an appropriate quality assurance environment is in place with resources available to follow processes effectively, efficiently and by design; creates, gathers, analyzes and reports metrics to monitor and increase quality; provides education and specific recommendations for improvement; validates that solutions work as expected before releasing changes into production
20%: Accountable for ALL the Business Analysis deliverables, Strategy, Planning, Estimation, Release Plan input, Quality, Metrics, thought leadership, Continuous Improvements, setting team priority, and Ensuring team productivity by removing obstacles 
20%: Commitment and actions to continually improve PPQ and BA & QA domains across NJIT, not just in her/his lines only.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business or equivalent experience

Related Work Experience: 6-8 years

Essential Qualifications:

  • Must be a proven people leader with very strong leadership skills. Partner well and work in a collaborative, matrixed team environment. Servant Leadership & lead by example. Be an enabler and developer of people and talent.
  • Expertise in leading, mentoring, and coaching team members in general and Business and Quality Analysts in particular.
  • Ability to facilitate training classes, workshops, and one-on-one coaching.
  • Share and champion BA, QA, & SDLC best practices across multiple lines 
  • Expertise and experience in positively influencing peers, key stake holders, and leaders
  • Knowledge and experience in managing SW projects and SW deliveries from inception through on-going run support
  • Knowledge and experience in Agile methodologies and engineering techniques such as Iterative solution scoping, 3 Amigos, Pair development, Test Driven Development, Acceptance Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, and test automation.
  • Knowledge and experience in requirements analysis (Feature definition, epics, and story cards), requirements & test strategy, requirements & test planning, requirements & test coordination, requirements & test management, test data, test environments, test script development, and metrics reporting.
  • Sound knowledge of SDLC with particular expertise in current business analysis, quality assurance, and testing methodologies in agile development environment. 
  • Foster a learning and Continuous Improvement culture 
  • Encourage taking calculated risks
  • Strong Thought Leadership/Innovation, and Passion and Commitment for Metrics driven end-to-end continuous Improvement. Identify, measure, track, collect, and report relevant and meaningful metrics and leverage them for on-going continuous improvements (people, process, & technology) to consistently deliver working software with ZERO KNOWN DEFECTs.
  • Knowledge/experience and interest in Lean Management principles and techniques.
  • Champion Test Automation: Leverage new automation tools and technologies, and apply those skills to automate at least 75% of the tests.
  • Expert/Competent: In test automation strategy, planning, test script development, execution, and management. 
  • Passion for developing test automation frameworks and building quality into the product.
  • Strong technical and business skills
  • Strong product domain, SDLC, and/or technology knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience managing business relationships
