The Commercial Finance group provides analytic, business planning, and fiscal management support for the following operating departments:

  • Customer Insights and Loyalty
  • Co-Brand
  • Digital Channels
  • Distribution
  • Global Marketing
  • Global Sales
  • Network Planning
  • Revenue Management
  • Strategic Alliances
  • Vacations

*This role could focus on any of the above departments as well as ad-hoc projects. 

Job Description

This is a high-profile position that has broad exposure to leadership in Finance, Accounting, Audit, Commercial, and IT. The Financial Analyst position is responsible for the following:

  • Development and reporting for annual expense budget
  • Owning the monthly close and forecast process for assigned departments and accounts
  • Evaluation of capital projects (ROI, NPV, and strategic fit)
  • Preparation of presentations for senior management
  • Financial modeling
  • Performance metrics and scorecards
  • Collaboration with operating departments for ad-hoc projects requiring financial or analytic support
  • Merger synergy analysis, tracking, and forecasting
  • Internal process improvement
  • Development and supervision of up to three analysts
  • Due to the complexity of certain components of Commercial revenue accounting, the position interacts regularly with Internal and External Audit
  • Adherence to SOX policies

Job Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree required, with emphasis in Finance, Accounting, Economics, and/or Quantitative Analysis or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 0-5 years of professional experience required
  • Familiarity with AAdvantage program preferred
  • Experience using Hyperion Essbase and SAP required
  • Knowledge of internal SOX policies required
  • Strong financial analysis skills with an understanding of discounted cash flow analysis, forecasting techniques and variance analysis
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, including amortized revenue and deferred revenue, required
  • Experience building a corporate budget preferred
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
