Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE:
Manage data used by the Fuel & Energy Management Department to make tactical and strategic decisions.  Develop and maintain reports used to identify and quantify savings opportunities/operational efficiencies and measure supply and pricing results. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
        Develop and maintain tools, spreadsheets, models, and databases for department (analysts, schedulers, and management) which allow for quick and easy access to data needed for decision-making in contract negotiation, fuel inventory & logistics management and fuel cost control; provide daily distribution of key fuel market pricing data/reports 
    Perform necessary contract pricing validation and ensure integrity of pricing data in fuel accounting systems/operations systems used for tankering, flight plans, and invoice processing and for analytical purposes
    Generate critical reports on fuel consumption forecast, fuel price forecast, inventories, gains/losses, fuel service fees, schedule changes, flight number summaries, tankering volumes, etc., as directed;  promptly identify questionable data and determine source of problem(s)
    Support department by working closely with IT and Fuel Accounting to ensure data sources and updates are timely, complete, and accurate; must perform data entry as required
    Assist Fuel Finance Manager in fuel service cost budgeting, month-end closing, forecast adjustment and working capital related activities and analysis
    Optimize internal data feeds and work to enhance current data and/or processes; develop and implement new business processes to improve efficiency
    Manage processes to ensure maximum use of Foreign Trade Zone, Bonded Fuel, and Duty Drawback to minimize tax burden
    Complete other ad-hoc projects to support department operation

Job Qualifications

    Undergraduate degree in quantitative or technical discipline (e.g., Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering) or equivalent experience/training
    At least 3 years experience in an analytical reporting role
    Demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal direct supervision while leading projects as assigned by management
    Must be detail-oriented and have experience creating, maintaining and reviewing documents, reports, files and databases to ensure that they are accurate, complete and that no important details were overlooked
    Provides accurate, consistent numbers on all work products
    Provides information in a useable format and on a timely basis to others who need to act on it
    Maintain checklists, schedules, calendars, etc. to ensure that small details are not overlooked
    Work requires little or no checking
    Document important details in messages or communications so the details are not lost or forgotten
    Relentless focus on continuous improvement in departmental processes and decision-making
    Significant and demonstrated analytical thinking ability
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels within the organization and as necessary with external contacts
    Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint); advanced skills with PC SAS, VBA, and Oracle Discoverer
    Proficient with database tools and processes (Excel, Oracle, ODBC, SAS)
    Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and excellent organization skills
    Ability to manage multiple tasks and shift priorities as appropriate, while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines, in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
    Willingness and ability to travel occasionally
