Description Join a dynamic team that helps define Hawaiian Airlines’ long-term strategy. This role will have a significant impact on the development of the airline’s route network. We are looking for an individual with a strong aptitude for quantitative modeling, comfort with complex data, and an ability to combine big-picture thinking with attention to detail.
  • Create P&L models to test long term strategic network scenarios and evaluate network P/L impact of various network scenarios
  • Develop revenue and ASM forecasts at the equipment, route, and holistic network level
  • Identify new markets for growth and assess market growth potential
  • Create defensible network scenarios, incorporating potential competitive reaction
  • Work closely with Finance and Operations to validate P/L and operational impact
  • Work in cross-functional teams to develop analyses and test scenarios to support route launch decisions
  • Develop business cases incorporating all stakeholder input for presentation to senior management
  • Garner consensus on recommendation and usher proposal through various check-points
  • Identify new market opportunities and track key economic trends that would impact existing route network
  • Assess impact of competitor actions and develop defensive or offensive initiatives
  • Assess revenue and competitive impact of schedule changes at regional and network level
  • Evaluate alliance partnership / codeshare / potential consolidation scenarios' annual contribution to network P/L
  • Assist in Long and Short Term Fleet Planning process by developing network scenarios and assessing aircraft compatibility in various scenarios; assess economics of potential aircraft reconfiguration
  • Maintain cost models used in route forecasting
  • Comparison of  Express partner agreements' relative economic efficiency
  • Prepare network strategy presentations and develop relevant materials for the senior management team, the board, and affiliated government bodies
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Economics/Accounting or related field or equivalent experience/training
  • Substantial experience in Finance or Management Consulting position, including experience with financial modeling / analysis and presentation development, highly desired
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Access)
  • Capable of developing high quality, professional PowerPoint presentations
  • Superior analytical and communication skills with the ability to negotiate and communicate effectively across job levels and departments
  • Excellent teamwork skills, with proven ability to work effectively in a variety of situations and across departments / functional areas
  • Advanced aptitude in problem-solving, including the ability to logically structure an appropriate analytical framework
  • Adaptability and flexibility in the use of analytical approaches pertaining to problem solving

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in operations research, computer science, statistics or similar quantitative discipline
  • Understanding of fundamental airline concepts such as spill, recapture, O&D, connect vs. local, fundamental Revenue Management principles, demand elasticity, etc., are highly desirable
  • Airline or travel industry experience
