Analyst Safety Evaluation and Audit Program

Position Summary

The Analyst Safety Evaluation and Audit Program supports JetBlue’s SEAP evaluations and audits by collecting, analyzing and reporting data and information to support the schedule design, evaluation performance, corrective action and continuous improvement processes in support of the Safety Assurance component of JetBlue’s Corporate Safety Management System (SMS)

Essential Responsibilities

* Assists the Director Ground Safety and Manager SEAP in the planning and implementation of evaluation/audit schedule
* Assists the Director Ground Safety and Manager SEAP in integrating and communicating company policies/procedures, Federal Aviation Regulations and others Standards including but not limited to International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audits (IOSA) standards, Department of Defense (DoD) Standards etc., into the departments schedule and SOPs
* Supports SEAP in performing system assessment of Findings to determine need for corrective action(s) or Safety Risk Management
* Supports the Safety Department and other departments with performing root cause and root cause categorizations using JetBlue’s Standard Error Taxonomy (JSET)
* Facilitates and directly oversees the closing of complex and cross divisional findings from Safety Assurance
* Facilitates the closure of findings from Safety Assurance by supporting Leadership to determine finding owner, root cause, and corrective actions to address root cause
* Verifies corrective actions are implemented and work with SMS and Safety Assurance Teams to verify effectiveness of corrective actions once implemented
* Supports the identification of issues that need to be escalated to JetBlue’s Risk Working Groups (RWG), Safety Review Board (SRB) and Senior Leadership.
* Supports SEAP with creating/editing communications and presentations that are sent to Leadership and Frontline Crewmembers Analyze and report the effectiveness and health of SEAP including metrics, key performance indicators
* Performs continuous analysis of JetBlue’s SMS data to identify safety concerns, emerging risk and effectiveness of risk controls, corrective actions
* Supports the oversight of AQD database to ensure consistency and standardization of evaluation data entry (Findings, Root Cause, JSET, Corrective Actions)
* Ensures the conformance reports are up to date and aligned with SEAP policies
* Ensures Dashboards and information on SharePoint sites are up to date and aligned with SEAP policies
* Ensures records of SEAP are managed in accordance with JetBlue policies, IOSA standards, DOD requirements, and 14 CFR Part 5.
* Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

* Bachelor’s Degree in management, operations, engineering, aviation safety, engineering or related field
* One (1) year experience in Aviation or Safety field
* One (1) year experience building presentations and analytical reports
* Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications
* Basic data management skills
* Good written and verbal communication skills including interactions with Leadership
* Ability to apply analytical approaches and tools to problem solving
* Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
* Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

* Two (2) years aviation related work experience
* Two (2) years’ experience building presentations and analytical reports
* Experience and/or familiarity with Safety Management Systems (SMS)
* Experience and/or familiarity with Tech Ops (MNT)
* Knowledge of applicable Tech Ops CFR's and work experience in a Technical Operations department either Maintenance/ Quality or Engineering a plus.
* Familiarity with Root Cause Analysis
* Project management experience
* Human Factors training and/or experience
* Ability to work effectively with professionals from diverse technical areas
* Strong organizational and planning skills
* Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
* Strong team building and interpersonal skills to liaise with other teams within and outside of JetBlue
* Publishing or article writing experience
* Proficient user of Microsoft SharePoint
* Excellent typing skills
* Working knowledge of regulations and industry trends governing commercial aviation safety, security, environmental, and employee health and safety
* Working knowledge of descriptive statistics and applied research methods

Crewmember Expectations:

* Regular attendance and punctuality
* Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
* Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
* When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
* Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Fun and Passion
* Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System
* Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
* Identify safety concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))
* Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
* Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
* Position requires some same day and overnight travel (about 20%)
