Position Title: Architect Solutions

Position Summary

The Solution Architect will provide architecture design and thought leadership for Customer Support and other Product Management Solutions, and will ensure that these fit in JetBlue’s Technology Ecosystem.

An active member of JetBlue’s Enterprise Architecture Team. The Architect partners with Business, Solution and Enterprise Architects; mentors, helps, advices, collaborates and guides Customer Support and other Product Management teams, Tech leads and Architects during the lifecycle of a program, project or product.

The Architect leads the creation of architecture for multiple products, applications and/or systems in a domain in a product portfolio. Following Enterprise Architecture guidelines, the Solution Architect makes sure that solutions fit within the overall enterprise architecture and escalates issues that affect enterprise architecture.

Essential Responsibilities

*

Deliver end to end solution architecture for programs, projects or products that involve solutions for Customer Support Program Management Initiatives either built for on-prem or for the cloud focused on current and future state IT strategy.

*

Serve as an ongoing point of contact during the project delivery and product development lifecycle focusing on solutions and products’ architecture throughout the project ensuring products to meet requirements and enterprise architecture strategy.

*

Create and collaborate in the completion of architecture documentation while complying with the enterprise architecture principles, guidelines, patterns, and standards

*

Build architecture following application, information/data, technology and infrastructure perspectives that meets functional and non-functional requirements like scalability, security, availability, etc.

*

Help with the elaboration of technology roadmaps for portfolio, program, projects and products

*

Partner with the documentation of functional and non-functional requirements to help architecture, platforms, systems and infrastructure enablement

*

Utilizes system engineering concepts and techniques to evaluate the completeness and correctness of the domain solution portfolio

*

Participates in project definition, assessment, and design of business initiatives with the domain

*

Provides effective communication to business and technical community on behalf of the domain

*

Works with development and production support teams to integrate, develop, refine and implement application architecture necessary for JetBlue’s products

*

Assists in the resolution of escalated technical support requests

*

Participate in the architecture review board to recommend architectures at the enterprise level

*

Provide business knowledge, architectural and technological mentorship to other JetBlue crewmembers

*

Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

*

Bachelor's Degree in a technical field such as mathematics, engineering, information systems computer science or related discipline; and/or demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities through at least four (4) years of previous experience and education

*

Eight (8) years’ experience with software development, engineering, infrastructure, and networking.

*

Five (5) years’ experience as Development Tech Lead (development and architecture) or three (3) years’ as Solution Architect across multiple business contexts.

*

Five (5) years’ experience with industry standards in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ITIL, project management and development methodologies (PMBOK, MSF, SEI, Agile Methods, RUP, etc.), and architecture standards (ATM, TOGAF, etc.)

*

Solid experience with Multi-tier applications, construction and integration using RESTful APIs, JSON and XML formats, Microservices, Web Services, Messaging (EMS, IBM MQ or other), ESBs, Web Front-end, Data Stores (In memory, RDBMS, DocumentDB or NoSQL), Java, and architecture for scalability and high availability.

Exposure to Business and Enterprise Architecture practices

*

Available for frequent overnight travel (up to 30%), especially between San Francisco, New York and Salt Lake City,

*

Able to work flexible hours and be available for emergency response on short notice

*

Able to pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test

*

Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

*

Three (3) years’ experience with Event Driven and Integration architectures

*

Five (5) years’ experience with Application, Information, Integration or Infrastructure architecture

*

Airline industry knowledge

*

Managing a full project or initiative, including presenting recommendations to senior leadership

*

Creating and managing Business and IT architecture policies and procedures

*

Exposure to JetBlue’s IT disciplines and interdependencies

*

Exposure to JetBlue’s business units and how their needs drive IT strategy

Crewmember Expectations:

*

Regular attendance and punctuality

*

Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice

*

Well - groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance

*

When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

*
