Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Supply Management, this position will join our Supply Management team at the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) as we transform ourselves and continue to experience strong airline and passenger growth on our journey to becoming the best airport in the world. This is an exciting opportunity to build up a small and highly professional Category Management team that will be handling all large-scale sourcing activities.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities:

• Lead and develop a small team to develop Category Strategies and execute on strategic sourcing projects to take advantage of savings and efficiencies opportunities across the GTAA

• Originate new concepts and innovative approaches for the organization and influence large and strategic sourcing initiatives and purchasing decisions across the GTAA

• Provide expertise on category management and the strategic sourcing process and best practices across the GTAA

• Provide a high level of category expertise for Information Technology, Construction, Operating Services, Maintenance Services, etc.

• Play an active role in work assignment to the team while ensuring quality outcomes and provide feedback and coaching as required

• Identify larger-scale business opportunities and improvement initiatives that maximize value to the GTAA

• Leverage organization-wide spend to develop category strategies and negotiate contracts

• Identify and develop cross-divisional initiatives to produce synergies and economies of scale

• Focus on customer management for all high value, strategic and critical transactions and support customer satisfaction and effective customer feedback initiatives

• Develop skills and category expertise of the team and provide performance review reporting and individual development plan

• Work with GTAA functional groups, Sourcing and Procurement Operations teams to coordinate sourcing across the GTAA

• Facilitate change management with colleagues and key contacts throughout the organization

• Draft and negotiate contracts and provide leadership in the evaluation, selection and recommendation of contract award

• Oversee the design, development and implementation of policies, processes and procedures needed to realize proposed value as they relate to strategic sourcing

• Negotiate with clients and various stakeholders with competing and conflicting goals, objectives and priorities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gain buy-in and assurance of strategic directions for the organization and develop and maintain the necessary relationships with senior management

• Prepare and deliver presentations at all levels of the organization

• Contribute to the continuous improvement through analysis and the development and implementation of sound management practices and procedures

• Champion best practices processes, tools and commitment to provide quality and results to customer

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in a related discipline required

• Professional certification (e.g. SCMP from the Supply Management Association of Canada) and/or MBA preferred

• Minimum 10 years of extensive experience with hands-on strategic large-scale category management and sourcing experience in a wide range of categories

• Demonstrated success in building and leading high performing teams to achieve quantifiable savings by applying the most effective sourcing methods

• Extensive experience in the purchasing operations of large public or private organizations, some of which must relate specifically to the actual duties of the position

• Experience supervising or directing, leading, motivating and training staff in a unionized and non-unionized environment

• Minimum 5 years of experience in people management (direct report or cross-functional)

• Demonstrated experience working in a customer centric environment

• Must be able to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent interpersonal skills and superior oral and written communication skills including contract writing

• Strong negotiation management skills along with strong financial, conceptual and analytical skills

• Strong leadership, team building and facilitation capabilities to manage and develop the category management team

• Knowledge of procurement systems including eSourcing, iProcurement and eCatalog management systems

• Strong project management skills with ability to organize, control and coordinate a variety of activities and multiple priorities in a fast paced environment to meet tight deadlines

• Knowledge of Category Management and strategic sourcing leading practices including Supplier and Contract Management Governance

• Skilled in supplier relationship management and how to manage contractual agreements post award

• Highly developed skills establishing relationships at all organizational levels and the ability to present corporate matters to internal and external stakeholders

• Superior problem solving and conflict resolution skills

• Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential matters

• Proven ability to act in an ethical and transparent manner, in compliance with GTAA corporate Code of Conduct

• Proven team player who supports the values of the organization

• Demonstrated analytical skills in assessing and reviewing business processes to identify options, best practices and opportunities to improve service delivery

• High degree of initiative and creativity with exceptional personal drive and motivation

• Proficient in the Microsoft Suite of Office Products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project Management software
