Assures the quality and integrity of electrical control platforms on all production equipment to guarantee good safe condition and operating order.
Assist and/or lead in commissioning of production electrical and automation systems
Trouble shoot and resolve automation and PLC issues as they arise in a production setting
Provides technical support and hands-on guidance to supervisors, maintenance and operations resources as required. Become the “go to” technical resource which will include systems recommendation.
Identifies and implements cost reduction and operational improvement initiatives as approved by Facilities management.
Leads projects primarily related to automation equipment installation and maintenance along with other projects as needed
Write and justify capital fund requests and drive related project to closure through good project management techniques
Supports continuous improvement and other Lean Manufacturing projects.
Role may include building systems automation projects and on-going maintenance
Other tasks as needed by business and assigned by manager
Qualification:
Motivated self-starter
Experience in working with custom automated production equipment.
Hands on experience with PLCs, Variable frequency drives, Motor and motion controls, Word & Excel
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrate cross functional project management experience including work with trades people
Able to write and justify capital and project funding requests
Excellent troubleshooting skills and root cause analysis capabilities
Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting, Servos and Motion Controls
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with changing priorities and easily adapt to changing situations
Building systems automation experience a plus
Knowledge of SAP systems a plus
Must wear all required PPE and follow all safety rules related to the materials they are working with or areas they are working within.
Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 25 lbs. individually, more in tandem lifts, and walk/stand for up to 2 hours at a time
Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering (Automation, mechanical, electrical, software, or manufacturing)
3-5 years Electro-mechanical/Controls experience
