Job Summary: The Avionics Intermediate Maintenance Technician performs repairs and replacement of components and system wiring along with system checks and diagnostic evaluations of aircraft systems. Duties include but are not limited to inspecting, servicing, testing, repairing, modifying, removing and replacing aircraft electrical instruments and electronic equipment. Systems include but are not limited to: power system components; instrument systems; indicating and warning systems; aircraft automatic flight control systems; including auto-pilots; automatic flight stabilization; aircraft compasses and altitude reference systems; auxiliary power plants; airborne communication; navigation displays. The candidate must possess the basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems as they apply to aircraft maintenance. Certain duties may require working in confined spaces for a periodic time. The successful candidate will be responsible for consistently practicing safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
Job Qualifications: The Avionics Intermediate Maintenance Technician position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. FAA Airframe and Powerplant license is required. The candidate must have at least 3 years of documented 'on aircraft' avionics experience or an Associate's Degree in Avionics from an accredited college or an approved technical school. Candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to inspect, test, and repair aircraft avionics & electrical systems. Must be able to read and write and understand the English language. Must be able to comprehend and apply information contained in technical and procedural documents, blueprints, schematics and wiring diagrams with little or no assistance. The candidate must be able to meet the physical requirements which qualify a person to perform essential job functions and be performing satisfactorily in present position. Must achieve a satisfactory score on the mechanical aptitude test which is structured to determine the ability to perform essential job functions.
