Description
 

The Aviation Services Controller will lead critical accounting and financial reporting standards for the Aviation Services group of businesses. The AS Controller will ensure consistent application of the corporate accounting policies and provide global training to the finance organization. He or she will ensure the control procedures are properly designed and effectively operating within Aviation Services. This individual will be the primary point of contact to external audit and will coordinate audit activities across the organization. He or she will collaborate with the business units and functional groups on a broad spectrum of initiatives including implementation of new accounting standards, financial system enhancements and M&A activities.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

-Technical Accounting and Policy Leadership

-Lead global implementation efforts of new accounting standards across Aviation Services. This includes partnering with business units to perform impact assessment of critical accounting proposals

-Lead educational efforts to roll-out new accounting guidance across Aviation Services

-Provide technical accounting support and oversight for significant and complex transactions

-Lead external benchmarking projects and partner with functional/business groups to evaluate and implement best practices

-Lead process improvement initiatives with focus on process standardization and streamlining

-Lead global Controllership Learning efforts to provide a high quality training program for the Finance organization

-Partner with the business units to develop relevant and tailored training materials

-All other duties as assigned

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with AARs policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications
 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

Bachelor degree required, Masters degree (M.A.) preferred; and 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CPA required.

Experience in multinational public accounting firm with service to mid or large cap public companies or similar role in Corporate Controllers organization preferred.
