The C-17 Military Airlifter Program in Oklahoma for is looking for an AV System Engineer. The selected candidate will collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines in the development, testing, and support of the C-17 platform.
The C-17 platform is a mature airlifter for air forces of the United States and allied countries. This position plays an important role in ensuring that C-17 aircraft continue to be a highly reliable, and provide advanced capability.
This position is responsible for operating the Avionics/Flight Controls simulation laboratories for the C-17 program. These laboratories are systems and software development and test facilities for actual and simulated LRU (Line Replaceable Unit) integration and test. The candidate will be responsible for the configuration of the test facility, integration and test of aircraft/simulation software and hardware, and executing test procedures. Interfacing with design engineers will be vital, as is defining Lab configurations which support requirements needed to test ongoing aircraft enhancements and modernization efforts. Candidate may actually have to "fly" the C-17 simulator for trouble shooting, or for customer support in a test or maintenance environment.
Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Refers to practices and procedures for guidance.
The candidate requires no instruction for routine work and general instructions for new lines of work or special assignments; supervision is limited. Participates in determining the details of assignments to accomplish a wide range of objectives. Plans, schedules, and arranges own activities. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Interacts frequently with internal and external personnel and customers. Obtains or provides information on important or sensitive organization matters.

Typical Education / Experience:
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience or a Master's degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
The candidate should have experience/interest in aircraft. Familiarization/understanding of avionics systems, simulation, and the general workings of aircraft/aerospace systems is desired. Practical troubleshooting skills are a must. A computer programming background as well as software coding are secondary requirements. Experience in a laboratory environment is a plus. The ability to work off-shift and weekends on short notice is also desired.
This position requires an active (or ability to obtain) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
