Business Development - Program Manager


This critical role is an opportunity for talent who possesses proven interpersonal skills who can effectively leverage relationships with current customers. Leads multi-disciplinary, customer focused business programs working to accomplish objectives through coordinated division efforts. Serves as a liaison for customer-to-company interface on program performance with the aim of managing and growing program revenue. Establishes and implements tactical and operational plans to achieve division objectives.

Directs and generates business opportunities for small to medium sized programs, product lines, or market segment within a division. As you manage accounts, you’ll work toward discovering additional opportunities, further positioning Parker as an engineering solutions provider. Works with business teams and current and potential customers to promote company technologies, products and services to meet customer needs and to determine how the division’s capabilities can be leveraged into additional markets.


•Responsible for special projects development. Accountable from start to completion of project goals, objectives and budgets to develop new and improved products. Responsible for achieving target costs for all components.

•Leads the project team to achieve its chartered purpose and desired outcomes.

•Creates and tracks the IMS (Integrated Master Schedule) for the entire program; ensuring all deliverables and milestones are met per customer request.

•Creates and tracks the Open Issues List for the entire program; Holds weekly and biweekly meetings as necessary.

•Ensures that all support division staff members meet their component and validation targets and dates per Parker Win Strategy.

•Holds stage gate reviews per master time plan as well as planning and tracking project team effort; achieves BETA milestones.

•Develops proposals and contracts designed to attract the customer and provide an acceptable level of return to the company.

•Conducts competitive research, evaluates sales performance, and formulates goals and milestones for specific products and systems.

•Applies thorough understanding of the division’s technical capabilities, operational capacity, and market information to influence future plans and strategies.

•Develops and maintains relationships with customers to gain knowledge of future market and customer needs and further develop business opportunities.


•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related field, with at least eight years of applicable experience.

•PMP Certification highly desirable (or willing to work toward completion)

•Offers both theoretical and practical knowledge in the program management field.

•Individual should be highly organized with the ability to see things through completion and hold others accountable.

•Previous experience with new product launches and new product commercialization.

•Ideally, candidate will possesses hydraulic & electronic/electrical background.

•Comprehensive knowledge of principles, industry practices, company products, technology, regulations, service capabilities, and policies related to marketing and business development for airline, military or OEM customers.

•Knowledge of program management and business processes and procedures, including technical and business proposal development.

•Knowledge of domestic and international customer budgeting and acquisition processes and procedures.

•Knowledge of government and industrial procurement regulations and practices.

•Knowledge of competitors’ products and marketing efforts and national, industrial business, and political interests.

•Knowledge of other companies’ products and capabilities for potential teaming and alliances.

•Ability to work on most complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables and/or incomplete data; understand problems from a broad, long-term perspective.

•Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex policies and recommend changes to procedures.

•Ability to respond to significant inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

•Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

•Ability to use standard business applications software.

•Possess an executive presence where you can comfortably, effectively and persuasively present information to top management, customers, and/or boards of directors.

•Ability to translate customer desires and project requirements into business development strategies and develop solutions to customer problems.

•Ability to demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal-setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.
