Position Description

AMETEK Prestolite Power is in the business of providing superior battery charging solutions. Prestolite Power designs, manufactures and distributes high quality industrial battery chargers for the motive power industry.

AMETEK HDR Power Systems (NYSE: AME) is in the business of providing precise control of electrical power to help businesses grow and prosper. HDR Power Systems is a recognized worldwide leader in the industrial heating marketplace. Our products have extensive applications in the following industrial segments: glass, furnace, cutting, coatings and other applications requiring precise control of power for mission critical applications.

The Business Manager will be responsible for meeting financial commitments as well as be accountable for the Prestolite Power business unit, providing resources necessary to grow and / or take the necessary actions to cut costs. AMETEK’s vision is to double the size and profitability over the next five years. We are a very numbers driven organization committed to achieving double-digit annual percentage growth in diluted earnings per share over the business cycle. This position will be responsible for all sales, marketing, engineering, customer service, aftermarket, forecasting, strategic planning activities, and operations.


The Business Manager will have successfully managed a business with revenues of at least $20 million is familiar with the manufacturing of high volume, high mix [engineered] products, must have proven strategic planning skills; conducted competitive analysis, developed marketing & business plans, pricing strategies, etc. Experience evaluating and making acquisitions would be a plus. Must be well versed in understanding financial statements and analysis Strong leadership qualities; good communication skills, strong executive presence. Travel Requirement 40%.


Strong financial acumen, successful experience with lean/six sigma manufacturing, excellent strategic thinking and conceptual skills, successful experience growing a business organically, including the ability to commercialize new markets, expand globally in vertical as well as adjacent market opportunities and develop new applications. From an operations perspective, exposure to best practices, i.e., continuous improvement, Six Sigma, JIT, Lean, etc. is necessary in achieving operational excellence.


Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Sales & Marketing or Business from a recognized, fully accredited program is required. An MBA is required but in exceptional cases experience and supplemental / continuing education activities (in business and marketing subject matter) may be substituted.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Overall responsibility for managing a full P&L and growing the business
• Oversee all aspects of operations, supply chain, manufacturing, marketing, sales, R&D & engineering
• Provide strategic and tactical guidance and be responsible for developing and implementing the business' strategic plan with an emphasis on promoting operational excellence, new product development, global and market expansion, and mergers and acquisitions.
• Meeting both strategic and annual commitments and annual operating budget.
• Interface with peers in analogous positions within the global operations, strategic marketing, sales, finance, and division engineering.
• Evaluate and develop long-term growth strategy for the business.
• Participating in trade shows
• Visit clients and dealers
• All other duties as required
