Job Description

PROGRAM INFORMATION:

The National Team provides technical solutions to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Command, Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) program. C2BMC is the integrating element for the Ballistic Missile Defense System and links various sensors and weapon systems. This program provides capabilities to integrate and synchronize missile defense systems and operations, providing a layered defense against multiple ranges of threats and in all phases of flight..

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a C2BMC Software Engineer (Level 2), the successful candidate will be responsible for developing software components of a large simulation system in a small team environment.

 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Design, implementation, integration, and testing as well as support of the software development life cycle with peer reviews.
  • Documentation and configuration management adhering to the project level process plans.
  • Responsible for the requirements analysis, software design, implementation, unit and integration test of C2BMC software applications. This will include operational capabilities as well responsibility for the C2BMC Test Harness. The Test Harness is a java- based simulation messaging system to automatically simulate and verify other C2BMC applications.
  • Responsible for the development of test scenarios and simulation software using Matlab.
  • Make recommendations about new technologies and software test methodologies.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Experience in full life cycle software development of Java-based applications and systems.
  • Hands-on development experience for Java-based applications in a UNIX/Linux platform environment.
  • Experience developing software in a structured, process-based integrated team environment.
  • Use of common software development and management tools such as Clearcase and Eclipse.
  • Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and SysML diagrams - Ability to implement mathematical algorithms in source code.
  • Recent development experiences in C++, OOD, OOP, XML, UML, and JAVA on a UNIX/Linux platform.
  • Experience in developing missile defense simulations, and executing state machines required.

Strongly desired skills include:

  • Experience with scripting languages and Matlab
  • Experience with messaging technologies and software simulation Experience with software infrastructure development and programming capabilities.

Desired Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Ballistic Missile Defense concepts, Battle Management and Command and Control (BM/C2) systems, defense communications systems, and the BMDS in general is a plus.
  • Implementation of interfaces using XML, Link 16, DIS/HLA or similar message sets
  • Integration of COTS products to produce end-user applications. - Implementation of graphical user interfaces (GUIs)
  • Command and control system application development
  • Implementation of data and messaging services
  • Consideration will be given for element specific Modeling and Simulation experience.
  • Experience with MatLab as an analysis tool and scripting languages such as Perl and Python will be helpful.

  

BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE:

The ideal Candidate will have experience in some or all of the following areas: - Strong problem solving skills, including the ability to review performance, identify root cause and recommend a solution. The successful candidate will have good verbal and written communication skills, have the ability to work independently and will possess the poise and flexibility required to work in a highly dynamic environment. Applicant should have good working knowledge of MS Office products.

 

This position requires candidate acceptance by industry partner resource control board.

This position requires a current Secret Clearance (or higher).

Qualifications 

Typical Education/Experience: Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience or a Master's degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • This position requires an active (or the ability to obtain) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • This position requires a current Secret Clearance (or higher).
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) education.
  • Experience developing software solutions in the Java programming language

Preferred Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Ballistic Missile Defense concepts, Battle Management and Command and Control (BM/C2) systems, defense communications systems, and the BMDS in general is a plus.
  • Implementation of interfaces using XML, Link 16, DIS/HLA or similar message sets
