Our Ramp Agents perform the handling of cargo (mail, baggage, freight) on and off aircraft, carts, containers, and trucks. Ramp Handlers transport cargo between terminals and aircraft; receiving, delivering, weighing and documenting cargo in a freight specific facility (warehouse) or a loading dock area. Responsible for pick-up and delivery of cargo, mail, baggage and freight from various aircrafts, facilities or staging areas. Reads and fills out cargo documents and forms necessary to the operational requirements of the airline. May clean and service aircraft interiors, including cabin cockpit and lavatories. Transports furnishings and supplies to and from aircraft interiors. May also be responsible for external servicing of the aircraft including lavatory, portable water, external electricity, airstart, and pre-conditioned air. May handle arrival and departure activities of aircraft including cleaning aircraft windshield; pushing, towing and related guide person functions. Prepares weight and balance sheet for each flight prior to departure by making calculations based on aircraft load of passengers, baggage and fuel. Makes corresponding entries in computer system, provides updated corrections to scheduled departure flights. May communicate by radio with other employees. Receives and conveys clear and specific information to others related to the job function.
Candidates must be able to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language. Candidates must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays. Must be able to report to work on a regular and timely basis.
Minimum Age: 18
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
License: Valid driver's license
Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform all duties under sometimes stressful conditions beyond the employee's control while attempting to influence a favorable impression of Envoy. May be subject to engine fumes, vehicle emissions, dust and engine noise. Must be able to carry, bend, lift, and turn with bags and parcels weighing up to 75 lbs. Must be able to move around freely in cargo hold/aircraft interior; reach, bend and twist in confined spaces. Operate vehicles in areas congested with aircraft, moving and stationary vehicles and equipment as well as positioning vehicle up to aircraft requiring depth perception and the ability to distinguish colors red, green and yellow.
Additional Position Details: This location may offer part-time and full-time work schedules; numbers of offerings per schedule are subject to change.
Employment Requirements: Must possess the legal right to work in Canada. Candidate must fulfill a criminal background as well as be able to secure Transport Canada Clearance required to obtain a restricted area identification card (RAIC) , in addition to clearing other airport related requirements, if applicable.
