The position is responsible for fabricating, modifying, installing, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining ground, airborne and electronic equipment, and ground support equipment in accordance with established technical specifications, engineering instructions, wire diagrams, technical orders and procedures. Performs work involved in routine aircraft troubleshooting, disassembly, repair, assembly, testing and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment, and accessories. Prefer Gulfstream and King Air aircraft experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Constructs individual components of electronic equipment following detailed schematics, layout diagrams, and work instructions.
* Trouble shoots and corrects discrepancies by removal, repair, or replacement of defective or deleted parts of aircraft electrical systems by following blue prints, schematics or other technical references.
* Performs limited functional checks on existing and newly installed aircraft electrical systems and equipment.
* Operates automatic test equipment to troubleshoots, test, locate, diagnose and repair defective parts and documents findings.
* Performs routine inspections on systems and equipment.
* Repairs or replaces components based on test results by following blueprints, sketches, schematics, handbooks and or other technical documents.
* Fabricates, upgrades, routes and installs wiring harnesses.
* Represents group with team leaders, supply personnel, A&P mechanics, pilots and internal and external customers.
* Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations whenever and wherever business is conducted on behalf of the company.
Qualifications / Licensing and Certifications:
U.S. Citizenship - required
High School Degree or GED - required
Minimum of Fifteen (15) years’ avionics experience - Preferred
Minimum of ten (10) or more years Gulfstream/King Air experience - Preferred.
Experience on military and FAA aircraft – required
Valid State Driver’s License - required
Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License – required
FAA Radio/Instrument Repair and or FCC Radio and Telephone Operator (RTO) Certificate – preferred
Ability to travel up to 25%
Valid US Passport – must able to obtain if no current passport
Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance.
The qualified applicant must be experienced and knowledgeable of FAA and military aircraft systems and maintenance practices.
Must be able to efficiently interface with Lead Avionics Technician.
Must be experienced in the fabrication of wire installations and all aspects of FAA and military specification connectors and contact terminations.
Must have the capability to trouble-shoot avionics and instrumentation systems.
Must be customer oriented and possess the communication skills required to efficiently and effectively interface and coordinate with the Operations Engineers and other technically qualified personnel.
Must have knowledge in use of aircraft technical publications.
Must be capable of working in confined spaces
Must be able to work in the established work/living environment to include shifts as assigned, travel as part of a maintenance recovery team and support CONUS and OCONUS deployments as required.
Must be able to perform operational checks, system adjustments and troubleshooting of communications, electronics and navigation systems as required.
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a government flight line driver's license.
Must have an in-depth knowledge (aircraft/vehicle movement and safety/hazards) of flight line operations.
The diversity of working conditions range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards, exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards exist.
Describe the physical requirement of the job (e.g. Bending, lifting, overhead work):
Must be able to climb ladders, stairs and portable stands and navigate these without assistance. Must be able to work at heights 70 feet above the ground. Must be able to work in extreme heat/cold.
Must be able to work in the following environmental conditions: noise, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, chemicals, odors, dust. Must be able to bend, reach, stoop, balance, push, pull, kneel, grasp, crouch, crawl, work in narrow aisles/passageways, and work in close spaces that restrict movement including aircraft fuel tanks for extended periods of time.
Must be able to stand for sustained periods of time. Must be able to work primarily with fingers such as picking, pinching, typing. Must have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
Must be capable of routinely performing industry standard ambidextriosities required to complete tasks. Must be able to lift/maneuver up to 50 pounds. Must be able and willing to enter and work in confined spaces, such as aircraft fuel tanks and beneath floor panels with clearances of 18” – 24”.
