Duties and Accountabilities:

*

Perform operational checks, services, handles and repairs ground support equipment. Must have a working knowledge of ground support equipment and associated systems. Must be familiar with aircraft and ground safety procedures.

*

Operates and performs operational checks on ground support equipment.

*

Performs Daily and Preventative Maintenance inspections on ground support equipment.

*

Uses publications to inspect, service, and repair ground support equipment.

*

Checks out and turns in ground support equipment as required.

*

Performs tire and wheel build up.

*

Completes applicable maintenance forms.

*

Identifies and treats corrosion.

*

Complies with all established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facility and job assignment. Complies with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste and Tool Control programs.

*

Ensures safety, security and preservation of Government and Company Owned equipment.

*

Operates portable fire fighting equipment.

*

May perform touch up painting.

*

Document work performed I.A.W. 4790.2C Series

*

Maintain cleanliness of the work center and around your assigned work area.

*

Performs other related duties as required.

Skills and Qualifications:

*

Satisfactory completion of U.S. Armed Forces ground support maintenance/repair courses or equivalent preferred but not required.

*

Must be able to meet Government/Company licensing/ qualification requirements for the position

*

Must have a minimum of three (3) years experience in aircraft or ground support maintenance occupational field. Must be familiar with aircraft support equipment, tools, drawings, schematics and normal safety requirements. Must have a working knowledge of ground support equipment and automotive maintenance, basic tools, drawings, schematics and normal aircraft safety requirements. Must have knowledge of corrosion detection, prevention and treatment.

*

Experience requisitioning/ordering supplies and materials and using reference publications to conducting research.

*

Experience with personal computers, software programs and/or a mainframe application is desired.

*

Must possess good command of English language with strong communication skills, both oral and written.

*

Must be willing to travel to perform off-site service on assigned detachment, work irregular shifts, weekends, holidays or shifts that include Saturdays/Sundays as part of the workweek.

*

Must be able to reference and interpret local work instructions.

*

Must possess a valid driver's license.

*

Must be customer oriented, motivated, eager to learn and have a positive attitude and work with minimal supervision or guidance.

Qualifications

Physical and Environmental Demands:

*

This classification activity is usually accomplished in a hangar/shop/flight line environment and as such requires the scope of physical movements and postures normally associated with these activities. May be required to lift objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.

*

The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to industrial environments.

Licensing and Certification:

the following certifications must be obtained within 6 months of start date:

* Formal or Specialized Training/Equivalent

* Hazardous Waste Communications Training

* FOD and TCP Awareness Trained

* Security Clearance Awareness Training

* OPNAV INST 4790.2 Program Awareness

* Ground Support Equipment License Certification

* Respirator Trained and Fitted

* Aircraft Towing

* CDI (experience)

* Egress System Checkout

* Plane Captain Certified

* Brake Rider

* Fuel Surveillance

* Welder Cert

* Hydraulic Contamination

* Operational Risk Management (ORM) Training

* Tire and Wheel Certification
