BASIC FUNCTION SUMMARY

All work is performed in accordance with applicable manufacturer’s maintenance manuals, company directives and other approved data. These

instructions dictate that the work performed must follow exactly the numerical order and format outlined in the instructions. Work requirements are contained in Inspection Cards, Inspection Sheet, Maintenance Manuals, Company instructions or Corrosion Control Plans. Performs corrosion removal, cleaning and treatment of aircraft structures, engines and installed equipment. Prepares aircraft and aircraft components for painting to include disassembly, inspection, thorough hand washing, sanding, chemical treatment, and masking. Paints aircraft and components as directed.

May be required to use hazardous materials in performance of assigned duties. May be required to perform Collateral Duty functions when qualified and certified. Must have aircraft painting skills and a good working knowledge of basic aircraft maintenance, inspection, and corrosion control requirements.

Familiarization with OPNAV 4790.2 Series and other applicable Navy Instructions. Manufacturer Manuals and Company Instructions.

Knowledge of cleaning materials, hazardous waste disposal and safety precautions.

Must be able to interface with Government Representative.

Must speak in a clear, concise manner.

Must be able to read, speak, and write legibly and understand the English language.

Must have valid state operator’s license and be able to pass the government licensing requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

May be required to perform 56-day corrosion inspections.

Responsible for corrosion detection, prevention and control.

Prepares aircraft and components for painting, to include disassembly, hand washing, sanding, chemical treatment and masking. Disassembles, inspects, paints and reassembles aircraft skids and/or other components. May be required to remove and reinstall cowlings to perform the duties of the job classification. Paints aircraft and components as directed. Applies modex labels and stencils, to include stencil making when necessary. Complies with the Hazardous Waste Program. Assist with ordering tools, parts and material.

Ensure proper operation and use of test equipment and Ground Support Equipment assigned for work being performed. Maintain cleanliness of the work center and around your assigned work area. Works with applicable Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention rules and regulations. Works with the Company Tool Control Program. Must comply with established General and Industrial Safety Rules and Regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities and job assignment. May be required to perform Collateral Duty Inspector functions when qualified and certified. Maintain appropriate records of all work accomplished. May be required to perform simple computer input functions.

Uses personal tools to perform the work in assigned job classification.

Monitor and assist the line move crew when operating inside the hangar.

Assist when directed to ensure safety, security and preservation of Government owned and Company owned equipment. Perform other reasonably related incidental duties when directed within the job classification.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Graduation from a standard four (4) year high school or equivalent (GED) AND 3 years documented hands on experience in aircraft corrosion control / painting.

In addition to the above education requirements:

Must have successful completion of Navy corrosion school or equivalent.

Must have a minimum of three (3) years documented hands on experience in aircraft corrosion control.

Completion of 80 hour Military Aircraft Paint, Final Finish and Insignia course preferred.

*

Must meet any other qualification standards imposed by the government contract not covered by this agreement.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Physical Demands:

Physical Effort: Climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, extensive walking and working in tiring uncomfortable positions. Working for long periods wearing respirator and protective clothing. May require lifting of objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. Will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles in an enclosed environment for extended periods of time. May be exposed to electrical shock hazards.
