Job Description (Position Summary and Essential Functions):
Responsible for Quality Control (QC) functions at government customer’s maintenance facility that supports 737-400 and DC-9 aircraft. Ensures that Inspectors are qualified and licensed in accordance with regulations.
Assigns work to the Aircraft Inspectors (AI) and appoints inspectors with appropriate authorities and limitations.
Supervises aircraft inspectors; Ensures continuity of inspection activities; Organizes and manages aircraft technical information, including aircraft inspections, spares, historical records and publications.
Responsible for the Airworthiness Directive management process. Records, notifies Maintenance, and follows up on Airworthiness Directive and Service Bulletin compliance.
Ensures the accomplishment of required Inspections and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness.
Consults and coordinates quality control activities with the Director of Maintenance; supervises the Technical Library, and provides recommendations on the preparation and editing of all technical reports as required by the COR in conformance with Federal Regulations and contractual requirements.
Conducts follow-up or buy back inspections to ensure that any discrepancy or deviation from established maintenance procedures are prevented or corrected.
Ensures that the conduct and quality of Inspector training meets the highest standards of the industry; implements recurring training programs for quality control personnel; In the event of an aircraft accident; secure all paper records of the involved aircraft.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma
Must hold a current mechanic certificate with both Airframe and Powerplant ratings, with an FAA Inspection Authorization, and have held these ratings for a minimum of five (5) years. In that period, at least three (3) of those years must include diversified maintenance experience on large aircraft with an air carrier, commercial operator, or certificated repair station, one (1) year of which must have been as a maintenance inspector
Must be familiar with all inspection methods, techniques and equipment used in their specialty to determine the quality or airworthiness of an article undergoing maintenance or alteration. In must also maintain proficiency in the use of various types of inspection aids.
