Job Description

The role of Commodity Manager is an interesting and challenging position that focuses on procurement strategy and value-creation.  Duties include the following:

  • Procure industry shaping commodities such as aircraft interiors, in-flight entertainment & connectivity, aircraft engines, avionics, airport services, etc. ensuring the continuous flow through the supply chain 
  • Responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive strategic programs addressing pricing, acquisition, total cost, lead-time and supply
  • Negotiate, implement and manage long-term purchase agreements with critical suppliers, while working with stakeholders to develop solutions
  • Lead supplier sourcing activities and successfully manage the supplier relationship to ensure that supply chains safely and reliably deliver quality goods and services
  • Represent the company and serve as the principal commercial intermediary in business transactions with internal and external organizations

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Leadership potential with a passion for customer service
  • Flexibility to negotiate complex projects with a high sense of urgency
  • Self-directed and resourceful in order to manage multiple assignments with commitment and follow-through
  • Optimistic and positive attitude that complements a diverse group setting
  • Diligent and organized approach to one’s work and management-of-self
  • Advanced business acumen in project management, commodity markets, supplier management, total cost of ownership and financial analyses
  • Understanding of technical tools for data mining, analysis, problem solving, forecasting and quality improvement
  • Skilled in organizational and interpersonal dealings
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities
  • High ethical standards and a keen sense of discretion
  • Moderate-to-extensive travel
  • Work experience, education or specialized training that demonstrates a knowledge and application of these qualifications
