Responsibilities:

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with measurement reporting and analysis of various Public Relations and Communications activities and campaigns.
  • Use data mining techniques to find trends in news media coverage, social media conversation, and internal content as it relates to corporate campaigns and activities.
  • Assists with the daily compilation and distribution of the News Brief.
  • Provides assistance on event/campaign wrap-ups and reports.
  • Works closely with the Social Business Team and Social Care Team when applicable to provide comprehensive Communications reports to key stakeholders.
  • Write, edit, and create Communications collateral for campaigns and companywide channels when appropriate.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

 

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.

 

Must be at least 18 years of age.

 

Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

 

EDUCATION:

 

Progress towards degree, major, or minor in a Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Emerging Media, Business or Communications related field required.

 

Minimum junior status or above.

 

To be eligible must be currently enrolled as a full time student (minimum 12 credit hours).

 

Maintained 3.0 or above cumulative GPA.

 

Experience:

 

Communications related work experience preferred (part-time jobs, internships, etc).

 

Experience with measurement tools and databases (i.e. – Cision, Radian 6, Omniture, Google Analytics, etc.) preferred

 

Experience, knowledge, or a keen interest in using data and measurement to tell a story or determine return on investment. 

Knowledge and skills in using social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube).

 

Writing experience preferred (school newsletter, business, or creative).

 

Leadership experience is a plus.

 

Participation in trade/industry organizations, community involvement, and/or school clubs preferred.

  

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge/Work Style:

 

Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Must possess a strong proficiency of the English language, including superior grammar, spelling, and organizational skills.

 

Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.

 

Must have a passion for social media.

 

Understanding of the airline/travel industry is a plus.

 

Possess a strong understanding of how Customers and Employees use communication channels to communicate with the Southwest brand

 

Must excel in content creation such as script writing, video editing, storytelling, and creative writing

 

Ability to work independently and the willingness to function as part of a Team.

 

Ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines and work well under pressure.

 

Must have ability to comprehend, proofread, and edit a variety of documents with a keen eye for accuracy and attention to detail.

 

Must handle confidential and sensitive information with the utmost professionalism.

 

Must be able to present self well to meet public and have the ability to present in large or small settings. Public speaking skills and/or experience a plus.
