Job Duties:

  • Work from specifications, blueprints, oral and written instructions to record pertinent adhesive information, form and layup component parts and assemblies in proper relationship according to standard shop practices where tooling and holding fixtures are usually available.
  • Select proper holding fixtures and bonding material.
  • Requires using some judgment to fit and align component parts in proper sequence and specific location in bond fixture.
  • Uses care to avoid contamination of surfaces from foreign substances such as dust or release agents.
  • Applies various adhesives to bond component parts together.
  • Clamps and secures parts inholding fixtures and tools.
  • Uses hand tools and some measuring instruments such as drill, thermo-gun, file, scissors, knife, and scale.

Qualifications:

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Requires the use of simple arithmetic such as addition and subtraction of decimals and fractions, the use of some drawing and measuring instruments
  • Minimum of 1 year composite bonding or plastics fabrication experience preferred
