Position Description

Micro-Poise Measurement Systems a business unit of AMETEK is a capital equipment manufacturer of measurement production machinery for the tire and automotive industries. An immediate opening for a Controls Engineer position is available at our Streetsboro, Ohio facility.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree with 3+ years of position related work experience including a background in electrical control system design and system integration of large and complex capital equipment.

The candidate must be knowledgeable in the associated principles, industry standards, and industry practices for Electrical & Controls design of industrial machinery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•Design, develop, and service all aspects of electrical/control systems of industrial equipment (machinery) with a wide degree of creativity and latitude

•Specify and configure electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic hardware per application specification

•Develop, maintain, optimize, and commonize control systems across different machine types

•Understand customer requirements for machine sequencing, communication interfaces, and networking and successfully integrate the requirements into written functional and technical specifications

•Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with existing equipment

•Provide technical support to help desk, field service technician staff, and customers

•Participate in design reviews to ensure optimal implementation of features and design through collaboration

•Work with Product Management to provide input to customer quotes

•Conduct cost and time estimation

•Ensure projects are completed and solutions implemented accurately, on time, and within budget

•Comply with safety procedures

•May require minimal travel to global customer locations to provide engineering & service support

Position Requirements

•Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree
•3+ years of position-related work experience
•Expertise in electrical design, drawing, and report generation using EPLAN and AutoCAD for complex projects
•Must be able to take complex design projects and effectively break down the work to create accurate schedules and engineering estimates
•Knowledge on electrical design and safety standards for industrial machinery - IEC, IEEE, NEMA, CE, etc.
•Hands-on experience in debugging and troubleshooting PLC and motion control systems
•Understanding of electrical controls integration, equipment, products, and systems for industrial machinery focused on machine control and data acquisition systems including:
oMachine-level communications and
configuration: Profibus, DeviceNET, Modbus,
CAN bus, Profinet, and Ethernet/IP

oPLC Equipment: Allen-Bradley Control
Logix/Guard Logix, Siemens S7300, S71500 &
WinAC RTX, and Mitsubishi Q-Series

oPLC Programming tools include:
RSLogix5000 V20 & above, SIMATIC Manager
V5.4 & above, Siemens TIA V12 & above,
Mitsubishi GX Works2

oIEC 61131-3 Programming languages for
PLC: Ladder, FBD, STL and GRAPH

oHMI Programming tool include: Factory Talk
View Studio, WinCC Flexible, WinCC Comfort,
GT Designer 2

oDrives system configuration and
parametrization including: Kollmorgen,
Siemens Sinamics, Allen-Bradley Kinetix,
Mitsubishi drive systems and VFDs

oSensors and safety systems including: Type-2
safety sensors and Pilz safety controller

•System integrator and quick learner with established skills in networking PLCs with computers (different high level applications) using OPC and Ethernet
•Must have ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines
•Must be a self-starter, team player, work well with others, and have a positive attitude
•Must be a creative thinker, results oriented, focused, and attentive to detail and accuracy
•Knowledge of hydraulic & pneumatic control systems
•Technical writing and documentation skills
•Exposure to site installation & commissioning; experience in start-up of machine and troubleshooting equipment breakdowns
•Proficiency in the English language with good written and verbal communication skills
