This position supports tasking on-site at the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWC-AD), Patuxent River, MD. The candidate will provide System Administration and assist with Cyber Security-related tasking in support of a variety of networked systems for the E-2 Product Support Activity (PSA). Candidate will assist in day-to-day operational support of cognizant network equipment and support upgrades and expansion of the system using established policies and procedures, and will monitor and tune the systems to achieve optimum performance levels. Will also ensure data integrity by implementing appropriate software and hardware solutions, and will oversee data recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations. Candidate will also assist in developing, testing and operating routine firewalls, intrusion detection systems, enterprise anti-virus systems and software deployment tools. Will also assist in safeguarding network systems from unauthorized infiltration, modification, destruction or disclosure, and will research, evaluate, test and implement new security software or devices. The position requires someone who is a motivated self-starter with a high degree of problem solving, troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills.
Education/Experience: A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer and Architecture Information Systems Management or a related field from an accredited college or university is required. An additional four (4) years of relevant experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree. Six (6) years of experience with mid-sized client/server systems in systems analysis, software design, software development, or system administration is required. Experience working independently and as part of a team in researching data, developing analytical techniques and methodologies is required. Experience with managing secure Information Systems (IS) and databases while implementing and maintaining cross-domain solutions is required. CAP, GSLC, or Security+ certification is required or must be obtained within six (6) months of employment. Experience with Cyber Security methods and techniques is highly desired.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of quality assurance, quality control, and independent verification and validation techniques is required. Knowledge and understanding of Linux operating systems, specifically Red Hat, and Windows Server technologies and associated management utilities and VMware virtualized environments is required. Knowledge of the JSIG and the Risk Managed Framework process is highly desired. Excellent communication, both oral and written, knowledge required. The candidate must be able to work effectively in complex mission environments.
An active TS clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last five (5) years is required.
