Job Description

The Digital Content Editor works with internal contributors and other team members to review and update content on the American Airlines customer facing websites. Their passion for words is delivered through copywriting projects that support company initiatives. Duties include daily site updates and larger content projects in which the editor evaluates content against usability and accessibility standards; ensuring it has clear message hierarchy and structure and meets the requirements of our global digital brand.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Advocates the online brand and web writing standards
  • Edits/writes concise and conversational content
  • Collaborates with internal partners to ensure content is accurate
  • Monitors aa.com for outdated content and broken links
  • Updates content within the CMS using pre-defined templates
  • Completes daily content updates and ensures accurate and on-time deployment
  • Participates in on-call rotation to post alerts to aa.com

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism or related communications field required
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills with the ability to clearly express ideas and overcome objections
  • Basic copywriting skills and SEO knowledge
  • Able to manage multiple streams of work simultaneously
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office
  • Willing and able to participate in rotation of ‘on-call’ duty to ensure travel alerts and crisis communication coverage during out of hours/ public holidays

    Desirable Qualifications

  • Bilingual, a plus, not necessary
  • Preferred 2 – 3 years of copy editing/writing experience on a high traffic website
  • Working knowledge of content strategy
  • CMS experience
