ES is committed to being a leader in Environment, Health and Safety, and is seeking a motivated, results-oriented individual to continue to improve our exemplary EH&S performance. The EH&S SBU Leader will provide leadership and direction to ES worldwide programs and policies regarding occupational health, safety and environmental protection, consistent with the overall UTC policy and UTAS requirements. The position supports operating locations in North America, Europe, and Asia.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Support ES management in the implementation of effective EH&S programs to minimize occupational injuries and eliminate violations of safety and environmental regulations, as well as reduce cost associated with these incidents.
* Develop strategies in support of ES and UTAS goals and objectives relating to safety and environmental protection. Work closely with ES Executive Leadership committee to include global considerations in the formulation of these strategies.
* Ensure ES sites provide required data in the UTC EH&S Reporting System. Coordinate periodic management review of ES EH&S performance.
* Provide support to ES site General Managers and other line managers responsible for safety and environmental protection on the local level.
* Represent ES in interactions with and feedback to UTAS and UTC EH&S departments.
* Manage communication between ES sites to ensure consistent program implementation and sharing of effective practices.
* Maintain a presence at ES sites during various phases of projects and programs, per an established travel schedule.
* Report out regulatory to executive leadership on state of EH&S within ES and their segments.
* Ensure resources including capital and employees are being used in the most effective manner to drive EH&S culture and performance changes.
* Lead TapRoot incident reviews and facilitate EH&S Dashboard/PDPR reviews .

Qualification: MINIMUM REQUIREMENT:

* Bachelors of Science in Environmental Science or Safety related field plus a minimum of 12 years of related EH&S experience in a manufacturing environment is required (or 10+ year for Master's degree holders).
* Demonstrated success in leading and implementing EH&S programs and systems in a manufacturing environment.
* Ability to communicate effectively and work across all levels of the organization.
* Thorough understanding of UTC and UTAS EH&S management system and technical EH&S program requirements.
* Thorough understanding of UTC/UTAS EH&S reporting system and requirements.
* Strong leadership, organization and project management skills.
* Able to perform/lead a variety of tasks, planned and unplanned, with an exceptionally high level of quality to meet target dates.
* Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite products.
* Ability to travel within the US and Internationally; occasionally on short notice.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

* Master’s Degree and/or professional certification (e.g. CIH, CSP, CHMM) preferred.
* Thorough understanding of UTC and UTAS EH&S management system and technical EH&S program requirements.
* Thorough understanding of UTC/UTAS EH&S reporting system and requirements.

Education: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelors of Science in Environmental Science or Safety related field plus a minimum of 12 years of related EH&S experience in a manufacturing environment is required (or 10+ year for Master's degree holders).

PREFERRED:

Master’s Degree and/or professional certification (e.g. CIH, CSP, CHMM) preferred.
