Aeronautical Engineers Inc.  is  on a quest to identify high impact candidates who can lead the engineering team for the world’s leader in narrow body commercial aircraft Passenger-to-Freighter conversions.

 DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING – Aerospace; Passenger-to-Freighter conversions; STC programs

 Opportunity: Reporting to the President, the Director of Engineering plays a key role in leading a team of skillful engineers in performing design through concept projects including the development, testing and production of new and modified products and components. Operating as a profit center, the engineering department will also provide engineering support to partner MRO repair stations in the development of structural repair design specifications and procedures.

 Some essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and mentor direct reports to consistently deliver excellence in their undertaking as individuals and team players.
  • Oversee and perform Aircraft Level Design and Integration of structural repairs and modifications through the Supplemental Type Certificate process. Activities included researching and developing design specifications, complete design, liaison with manufacturing and installation. This includes mechanical design, structural load testing and reports, installation instructions and maintenance requirements and procedures. Modifications include individual conversion of passenger Aircraft to Freighter configuration including cargo doors, load bearing structures, cargo handling system, smoke detection system, hydraulic system, etc. 
  • Assume lead in aircraft certification projects as required. Participate and manage cross-functional teams through completion of STC or TC project.
  • Resolve issues that arise during design, development, testing and operation.
  • Develop repair and maintenance procedures including training manuals.
  • Represent the company with the FAA and any other certification or legal organization as required.


Bachelor of Science or higher degree from accredited university in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering.


  • 3 years or more experience leading an engineering department.
  • Aircraft structures, sub-system integration design. 
  • Broad knowledge and understanding across many aerospace engineering disciplines is desired. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Extensive working Knowledge in ACAD, CATIA v5 or Unigraphics preferred.


Miami, Florida


$120,000 - $140,000 per year depending on experience.
