IMP Aerostructures, a Division of IMP Group Limited, a provider of aircraft structural components and assemblies for the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers, is seeking applicants for the position of Director of Production at our Amherst, NS facility.

Director of Production

Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Production is responsible to plan, organize, coordinate and control the functions associated with all production related activities within the organization. The Director of Production will manage and be responsible for a team of managers, supervisors and technicians with a mandate to ensure the most efficient production of a quality product, on-time to our customers. The incumbent will implement and advance company policies and objectives, as well as meet company obligations and responsibilities under the collective agreement, within the IMP quality system and ensure the safety of people, equipment and facilities.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Schedule and manage plant operations to meet customer demand.

* Set and manage production performance goals.

* Provide leadership and support to all members of the production team.

* Contribute to the long term strategic plan for production.

* Manage employee performance management.

* Identify and capitalize on cost saving opportunities.

* Make and implement recommendations for continuous improvement.

* Hire, train, and manage staff.

* Identify potential risks and develop corrective/preventative actions for products and processes.

* Ensure quality standards are met.

* Implement training and Improvement programs.

* Contribute to and encourage safe work practices under corporate Health & Safety Policies and legislated standards.

Qualifications:

* Post-Secondary Education, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or another technical discipline (Equivalent combination of experience and relevant education will be considered).

* 7-10 years of Operations or Plant Management experience. Candidates with experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment will be given preference.

* Demonstrated ability to implement continuous improvement processes in a manufacturing environment.

* Working knowledge of budget development and management processes.

* Excellent communication, delegation, and team building skills.

* Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence, motivate and gain employee commitment to achieve results; experience in a unionized environment is an asset.

* Demonstrated success working in a team based environment. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the Aerospace Industry

* Must possess strong planning and organizational skills coupled with the ability to multitask and meet multiple deadlines.

* Ability to effectively handle stressful situations and thrive in a fast paced, diverse environment.

* Strong working knowledge of MS Office tools.

* Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.
