Job Description

American Airlines Group Inc. is seeking an experienced ethics and compliance attorney to join the Business Ethics & Compliance group based in Dallas, Texas. The position will report to the Associate General Counsel – Ethics & Compliance. As a Senior Attorney – Ethics & Compliance, you will actively support American’s world-wide operations by providing legal advice to all levels of Company management for ethics and compliance issues facing large, international companies.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide practical, compliant, and strategic legal advice and counsel to management on all ethics and compliance issues
  • Conduct third party due diligence
  • Monitor and investigate reports from our EthicsPoint helpline, domestically and internationally
  • Conduct compliance risk assessments of business units and geographical areas to ensure compliance with the Company’s anti-corruption program
  • Develop and implement remediation plans based on internal and external audits, investigations, and reviews
  • Develop computer-based ethics and compliance training and develop and deliver in-person, specialized ethics and compliance training
  • Develop or update ethics and compliance policies and processes
  • Manage day-to-day aspects of the Company’s international compliance program

Job Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school, excellent academic record, and active member in good standing in at least one State bar; if you are not admitted to the State Bar of Texas, you must be eligible for immediate admission upon application
  • At least five years of experience advising clients on ethics and compliance matters (a combination of experience at a law firm and in-house ethics and compliance experience is preferred)
  • Subject matter expert for multiple compliance areas, such as antitrust, anti-corruption, environmental, money laundering, copyright, and international trade
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially of complex issues, and attention to detail and accuracy
  • If not currently residing in Dallas area, willingness to relocate

  • Experience at a law firm and in-house ethics and compliance
  • Ability to speak one or more foreign languages

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of multiple compliance areas, such as antitrust, anti-corruption, environmental, money laundering, copyright, or international trade
  • Ability to communicate complex issues
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to relocate, if not currently residing in Dallas area
  • Ability to travel independently, including overnight trips of varying duration, domestically and internationally, and ability to hold a passport allowing unrestricted travel
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels both verbally and written
