This position supports tasks assigned by the Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, MD, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Branch, Code 188.8.131.52. Successful candidate will directly support the EMC Branch F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) support group team leader. The position requires a working knowledge of electrical/electronics engineering disciplines and specifically those associated with Electromagnetics and RF energy generation and propagation. Candidate will be expected to apply engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, and evaluate Naval airborne platforms, weapons, and avionics for EMC. Candidate will review and prepare engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to apply engineering experience to perform analyses with respect to E3 Engineering disciplines and their impact on system integration, configuration management, quality assurance, testing, and acquisition and resource management. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to apply engineering experience to perform functions such as system integration, configuration management, quality assurance, testing, or acquisition and resource management.
Education: A bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from a school of engineering which was accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) is required.
Experience: At least five (5) years of professional engineering experience is required. At least four (4) years of the experience shall have consisted of performing engineering functions with respect to aircraft EMC systems engineering and EMC T&E. The preferred candidate will have experience associated with Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) , including Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Electromagnetic Vulnerability (EMV), Hazards of EM Radiation to Ordnance, Personnel, and Fuels (HERO, HERP, HERF), Lightning, P-static, Bonding and Grounding, etc. Any experience with RDT&E and/or systems integration of military aircraft systems is a plus. Knowledge of the F-35 JSF development program, Naval Aircraft Type Commander (TYCOM) organizational structure, maintenance practices/procedures, and Naval aviation safety programs are desired.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Candidate must have good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively and professionally at multiple customer organizational levels. Excellent organizational skills are required. Some travel is required. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to utilize the Microsoft Office suite including (Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook e-mail).
