This new position in Huntsville, Alabama is in support of the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) program. The selected applicant will become part of the GMD program's Ground Based Interceptor (GBI) Engineering Team in support of our Missile Defense Agency customer. The GMD System is the first and only operationally deployed missile defense program to defend the homeland against long-range ballistic missile attacks. The GMD system is a critical part of our nation's layered Ballistic Missile Defense System providing early detection and tracking during the boost phase, midcourse target discrimination, precision intercept and destruction of inbound missiles through force of hit-to-kill technology. As prime contractor, Boeing is designing, producing, integrating, testing and sustaining the GMD components.
The GBI team has an open position for an Engineering Lead in the areas of avionics and electrical engineering. The successful candidate will apply his/her knowledge and experience in these areas to provide oversight and serve as lead for these disciplines in the development of GBI’s.
Proficiency in avionics design, electronic design & analysis, Root Cause & Corrective Action processes and the use of effective analysis methods and procedures are required.
The candidate will provide leadership for a small team of engineers performing design, analysis and integration activities.
The position requires cross-functional collaboration with other discipline leads as well as coordination with program and team management and suppliers.

Basic Qualifications (Required):
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
