Job Duties:

  • Conducts analog/ digital system hardware design and development.
  • Performs systems engineering tasks including customer specification review, technical requirements development, requirements allocation to system components, system performance prediction, requirements tracking, and review verification and validation testing plans.
  • Performs systems-level analysis and documentation of the design using detailed specifications and industry standard practices.
  • Performs architecture trade-off analyses on both line replaceable units and distributed systems.
  • Leads system architecture design decisions in areas of redundancy management and control system approaches considering product failure modes and performance goals.
  • Engineers and coordinates electrical system designs for new production as well as retrofit applications.
  • Electrical Systems Engineer Supports Program Management, Certification, Marketing and other departments to manage program requirements.
  • Supports Sales and Marketing with customer visits for marketing purposes, new application discussions, and product support.
  • Serves as a member of cross-functional teams responsible for transitioning new products into production as needed.
  • Participates in product or project support activities as appropriate based on product and process knowledge.
  • Actively participates in EHS activities such as area inspections, safety assessments, team meetings, accident investigations and procedure development.
  • Brings unsafe conditions to management’s attention or corrects as able.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

 Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, control or systems engineering from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in an electrical systems engineering role).
  • Five years’ experience in electronic and electromechanical based new product development, and trapezoidal or field oriented electronic controls for permanent magnet brushless motors.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required as we will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Masters’ degree in electrical, control, or systems engineering.
  • The Electrical Systems Engineer 10 yrs. experience in electronic and electromechanical based new product development.
  • Familiarity with aerospace grade electronic circuit card design.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and technical writing skills .
  • Familiarity with RS232, RS422, and/or CAN data bases a plus.
  • An understanding of airline regulatory guidelines and design requirements for aircraft (DO-178 and DO-254).
  • Familiarity with 270 VDC power systems.
  • Familiarity with MatLab / Simulink based control system analysis.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% (domestic or international) to support customer visits, testing, product support and/or installations.
  • Proficiency in DOORS and MS Office products.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with the various aerospace, industry, government and international specifications and manufacturing practices.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees/customers and work in a fast paced, team environment.
  • Hands-on engineer, able and willing to troubleshoot current product issues as well as be involved with new product development/testing.
  • Ability to handle and manage multiple mid-level projects simultaneously, work as part of a team and meet established deadlines is critical.
