Under the general guidance of the Supervisor, applies comprehensive technical knowledge in the removal, repair, modification, servicing and installation of various types of electronic components, including but not limited to airborne equipment systems and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, radio, television, telecommunications, sonar and navigational aids; personal and mainframe computer and terminals; and night vision devices. Assembles, solders connects and inter-wires electronic components. Performs and assists others in the maintenance, alignment and functional tests of electronics using test equipment. Completes maintenance procedures and if necessary interprets engineering drawings, schematics, safety procedures, military specifications, standards and technical manuals to accomplish assigned tasks. Troubleshoots, inspects and verifies the work of others. Performs technical work and documents work performed on aircraft forms, Army maintenance forms, records and/or Contract Field Services workbooks, and other duties assigned.
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Three (3) years of experience in communications, navigations and instruments required.
Completion of military technical training or comparable civilian trade school is desired. An FCC license may be required for non-military aircraft. Must be certified to perform tasks specified in L3 Contract Field Services Standard Operating Procedures Manual, if required to perform those tasks.
Physical Demands: This maintenance classification activity accomplished predominantly in a flight line / hangar environment with extensive climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching and walking demands. May require lifting of objects weighing up to 50lbs. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close and peripheral vision and acceptable depth perception.
Work Environment: The diversity of working conditions range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards, exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards exist.
