Description

Maintenance Programs Specific:

  • Ensures maintenance program deliverables are adjusted to the latest Maintenance Planning Data (MPD) and Maintenance Review Board (MRB) reports.
  • Ensures Maintenance Program deliverables related to FAA-approved maintenance programs (ETOPS, LLM/LMP, RVSM, CPCP, Aging Aircraft, OIP, CDCCL, etc.) comply with current requirements.
  • Supports RCMP (Reliability Centered Maintenance Program), escalation/de-escalation of any tasks associated with HAL’s Maintenance Programs.
  • Revises, creates new or deletes T/C (Task Cards) as required to maintain HAL’s Maintenance Program across all fleets.
  • Authors task cards which are efficient – reduce redundant open/close access, inaccurate procedures in task card(s).
  • Evaluates pilot write-ups, non-routine write-ups, FA write-ups for trends, implementing changes in the maintenance program as needed to improve operational reliability or cost.
  • Proactively identifies passenger sensitive, crew sensitive or operationally sensitive issues and develops maintenance program T/Cs to address.
  • Involved in improvement of operational performance through implementation of new or maintenance program initiatives and procedures.

Reliability Specific:

  • Recommends improvements in reliability for aircraft systems or components, working with HAL engineers, OEM, vendors, MROs, HAL maintenance and maintenance control. 
  • Involved in resolution of design and reliability improvements to aircraft systems, helping to pursue warranty claims to components that do not meet reliability or on-wing performance guarantees.
  • Suggests and implements reliability methods and data needs to meet stakeholder demands and support good decision making to improve the operation.
  • Ensures reports and data provided on a regular basis to stakeholder groups is generated efficiently, accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Supports MRRB (Maintenance Reliability Review Board) and IRG (Initial Review Group) agenda and meetings, as required by Manager.
  • Creates, analyzes and follows up on alert levels given to engineering to evaluate.
  • Ensures maintenance program deliverables are adjusted to the latest Maintenance Planning Data (MPD) and Maintenance Review Board (MRB) reports.

 Both:

  • Serves as a project engineer for assigned commodity. Possesses good system knowledge in  responsible commodity area for large commercial aircraft in Part 121 operation.  
  • Provides prompt technical assistance to line, base and check maintenance team, on and off-hour, as needed, as it pertains to reliability and/or maintenance program issues. 
  • Utilizes good judgement, technical expertise and practical experience to disposition complex technical issues, consulting more experienced engineers as needed. 
  • Reviews documents including service bulletins, FARs, Airworthiness Directives, and other manufacturer issued publications.
  • Prepare, create, review and approve engineering in accordance to HAL Engineering Standard Operating Procedures and processes.
  • Interface with equipment vendors, industry partners, MRO providers and regulatory authorities
  • Collaborates with other HAL engineering Maintenance Programs, Reliability groups, DL Engineering and ATS as needed to ensure operational reliability is monitored and activities to improve are implemented.
  • Professional development and other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Engineering or BS/MS Degree from an accredited University, or if no degree, 5+ years as an aircraft mechanic on large commercial transport aircraft, with experience as a lead mechanic, crew chief.
  • Demonstrated familiarity and proficiency in engineering processes and procedures; involved in resolution of design and reliability improvements to aircraft systems and maintenance programs and procedures.
  • Works effectively with little supervision and provides proactive engineering support to mechanics while adhering to safety requirements.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of aircraft maintenance and specification documents, particularly AMM, WDM, SRM, IPC.
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (Parts 25, 121, etc).  Familiarity with Airworthiness Directives and Manufacturer Service Bulletins.
  • Familiarity with TRAX maintenance software, particularly engineering module, authoring controls and task cards.
  • Proficient in common office applications, as well as AUTOCAD /Solidworks software.
  • Good organizational and prioritization skills and a demonstrated ability of acting as an effective change agent.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to summarize complex technical matters. Must be able to confidently and professionally represent Hawaiian to members of federal authorities and industry.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and work beyond regular hours, including weekends and holidays and non-traditional hours, promptly respond after hours, and travel as needed.
