SUMMARY

Manage and oversee all aspects of assigned STC program, including schedule, budget, engineering status, certification, and kit development, as related to transport category aircraft. 

 

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages and oversees all aspects of assigned program, including schedule, budget, engineering status, certification, and kit development. 
  • Maintains positive working relationship with the customer and serves as the main communication focal. 
  • Coordinates engineering requirements with Engineering Manager and monitors out of scope items to ensure projects remain within plan and budget.
  • Performs monthly program reviews with upper management, ensuring program remains on schedule and within allotted budget.  Recommends corrective action along with review of alternatives when applicable.
  • Assists with preparing budget and estimates for assigned projects and proposals in response to customer requests.
  • Performs such individual assignments as supervisors and superiors may direct; ensures adequate and continuous controls are exercised over all assigned activities affecting quality; establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with the FAA or ODA and all FAA / ODA representatives (DAR’s, DER’s and UM’s).
  • Knowledge of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs - from Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations) as they apply to transport category aircraft.
  • Knowledge of cabin specific regulatory requirements, including flammability and crashworthiness as examples.
  • Familiarity with the FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) process.
  • Familiarity with the FAA Airworthiness Directive (AD) process and rules governing disposition.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, preferably those created by Boeing and Airbus.  They should also be familiar with the documents needed to routinely maintain commercial aircraft:  Structural Repair Manual (SRM), Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC), etc.
  • Project Management skills; multi-tasking
  • Fluency with Microsoft Project, Power Point, Word and Excel
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Travel is required

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • BS Degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Electrical or Mechanical preferred) or extensive experience and training in their respective area of expertise to be determined equivalent.
  • Typically has completed three or more years of engineering and/or program management experience in a technical field.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

  • Occasionally lifts and carries up to 15 pounds
  • Some of work time is spent standing, lifting, and bending
  • Works at telephone answering equipment, design equipment, and at a PC
  • Works within a manufacturing office setting and is occasionally exposed to heat, cold, wet, and fumes/chemicals
  • May be required to travel to customers sites
