Job Description:

As the Automation/Test Engineering Technical Manager, you will lead complex automated test development programs for use by the factory and PCBA contract manufacturers.

Job Duties:

  • The responsibilities of the Automation/Test Manager will include setting up a test plan for the manufacturing of complex electronic assemblies, creating manual or automated test environments, and developing techniques to increase first pass yield within our factory.
  • This includes the design and development of automated test equipment (hardware, mechanical, and software development) used for both LRU level test and printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) levels.
  • These ATE’s will be primarily used in a factory/PCBA contract manufacturer setting.

Qualifications:

  • BS EE or equivalent.
  • 15+ years of experience in avionics hardware development and/or avionics test
  • 5+ years formally managing a team
  • Ability to understand RF, digital and analog circuitry to facilitate working closely with design engineering to develop approaches to alignment, test, troubleshooting, and Design for Manufacturability/Testability (DFX)
  • Experience with the production of high quality assemblies using fine-pitch SMT manufacturing processes
  • Fine-pitch SMT Assembly, AOI, AXI, Flying Probe and Functional Acceptance Test
  • Optimizing defect detection, yields and test cost
  • ATE Hardware design including Virginia Panel mass interconnect systems and National Instrument PXI test equipment
  • Experience using LabVIEW, TestStand, Python, and JTAG Boundary Scan software development
  • Managing a team of engineers to schedules and metrics
  • Demonstrated ability to justify, develop and deliver test solutions to the factory floor
  • Recent experience developing test solutions for radio’s/transceivers
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt a plus
  • Exposure to DO-178 and DO-254 engineering development and test processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and creating MS Project Schedules
  • Experience with Highly Accelerated Life Test (HALT) and Highly Accelerated Stress Screen (HASS)
  • Experience with hardware drawing trees and Bill of Materials
  • Experience supporting factory build issues
  • Experience with Requirement Management tools
  • Experience with DO-160 Qualification Testing, including writing test plans, test procedures, securing test lab quotes and execution of qualification testing at in-house and outside test facilities.
  • Experience with ERP tools
