Job Description

This position is in the Boeing Portland facilities department working directly with our internal customers (operations) and our equipment suppliers to concept, design, procure test, and implement advanced manufacturing methods. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Applies engineering methodologies to create and review equipment designs that meet stakeholder specifications and requirements.
  • Ensures the integration of equipment with related infrastructures.
  • Provides technical recommendations and solutions related to equipment.
  • Teams with cross-functional subject matter experts to develop and review bids and procurement specifications.
  • Plans, manages and executes projects involving the acquisition and modification of equipment.
  • Develops and implements testing and acceptance of equipment to validate performance and performs condition code analysis.
  • Creates and maintains necessary equipment documentation.
  • Controls hardware, software and documentation configuration in accordance with company procedures and legal requirements.
  • Creates cost estimates for the acquisition, installation or modification of equipment.
  • Develops and recommends equipment reliability improvements through the application of reliability engineering tools.
  • Researches technologies related to equipment, shares learning with others and trains personnel regarding operation and maintenance of equipment.

Qualifications 

The ideal candidate will have the following education, skills and abilities:

 

Required:

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of machining processes
  • Manufacturing/construction methods & codes
  • Project management. 
  • Positive attitude, with a strong desire to learn and lead.
  • Proven success as a self-starter
  • Able to handle multiple project at one time, while working and problem solving with limited supervision.
  • Great communication & time management skills
  • Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience or a Master's degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
  • This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Desired:

  • Mechanical or Mechatronics engineering degree
  • Numerical Control (NC) machine tool design experience
  • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • NC control, control logic and basic programming

 

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit. This position requires that you work out of Portland, OR. You must currently reside in the Greater Portland area (where relocating would not be required) or be willing to relocate at your own expense.
