Welds metal components together to repair or fabricate parts for aerospace, missile and industrial equipment using work instructions, drawings, military specifications, standards and technical manuals. Uses brazing and a variety of arc and gas welding equipment. Welds metal parts together, using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes. Performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding. Follows work instructions, safety procedures, military specifications, standards and technical manuals in performance of assigned tasks and other duties assigned. Documents work performed on maintenance forms, records and Contract Field Services workbooks.

High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Must have a minimum of five (5) years aerospace welding.
Completion of military technical training or comparable civilian trade school is required. Will be required to be certified by a government agency or professional and technical association for specific applications as noted:
• Aerospace/ Aircraft/ Missile (Multi Materials) - Certifications to American Welding Society (AWS) D.17.1 or NAVAIR 01-1A-34, T.Oor DOD approved qualified equivalent .
Physical Demands: This maintenance classification activity accomplished predominantly in a flight line / hangar environment with extensive climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching and walking demands. May require lifting of objects weighing up to 50lbs. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close and peripheral vision and acceptable depth perception.
May be required to work in areas that are noisy, dusty, and dirty. May be exposed to moderate discomforts, such as heat, cold and wind. This position requires normal physical functions. Work may require frequent bending, reaching and climbing. Work may be performed on top or under equipment in cramped or awkward positions. May frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers. Will be required to comply with safety requirements of the Standard Operating Procedures Manual. May be required to wear personal protective equipment, where applicable.
