Job Description

The Flight Certified Pilot is responsible for conducting acceptance and recurring tests for FlightSafety-operated training devices, including Weapons Systems Trainers (WST), Part Task Trainers (PTT), etc., and the creation and maintenance of a master library of test documents/records for KC-46 training devices. The FCP will maintain currency as a KC-46 flight simulator Pilot Instructor, evaluate other KC-46 flight simulator Pilot Instructors, and provide ground-based training for KC-46 Aircrew Training System (ATS) Flight Crew Specialties and Maintenance Engine Run students.


Requirements

Education or Formal Training:
 
 Bachelor’s Degree required. Emphasis in aeronautical, electrical, or mechanical engineering is desired, or other related field, or equivalent combination of education and training. An advanced degree in one of these fields is highly desired.

Experience:
Ten (10) years flying experience, of which five (5) years were as a military Pilot, preferably with tanker and receiver air refueling background. Two (2) years of Flight Instructor experience in air refueling and/or tactics is desired. Recent KC-10 Flight Simulator Pilot experience is highly desired. Type-rating in B-767 preferred. Special emphasis placed on experience in simulator testing and engineering knowledge pertaining to visual systems, motion systems, control loading, latency, and test equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Work with hardware, software, and courseware development personnel to develop designs for required changes/upgrades to KC-46 ATS product baselines of configured ATS configuration items (WSTs, PTTs, lesson plans, etc.).
  • Perform prototype Quality Assurance (QA) acceptance evaluations of modifications/upgrades to training devices.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 60 and Aerial Refueling Airplane Simulator Qualification (ARASQ).
  • Interface with instructors, maintenance personnel, Company management, simulator manufactures, subcontractors, and aircraft systems manufacturers concerning training device systems and related equipment.
  • Maintain ATS training device Approval Test Guides (ATGs), Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs), and Standards documents through record keeping of training device test results, ancillary records, and correspondence.
  • Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of KC-46A aircraft and training device test data analysis methods. Perform flight test and unique training device test procedures to ascertain quality and performance of training devices including visual systems, motion systems, control loading systems, and latency to meet required FAA and Company standards.
  • Perform training device QA functions for training device maintenance including trend analysis, modification installations, equipment updates, and scheduled/unscheduled maintenance tasks.
  • Investigate all Deferred To Test (DTT) training device discrepancies and assist in the development of test procedures for changes and upgrades to training devices.
  • Serve as KC-46 Subject Matter Expert (SME) for courseware development, students, and Company personnel, as required, and assist in the development of metrics to measure the quality of ATS program elements (e.g., training devices, software, courseware, instructional delivery, technical documentation, etc.).
  • Evaluate site Pilot Instructors.

  • Fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Display excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess the ability to interface with students and provide on-the-spot remediation, or determine other courses of action, as necessary.
  • Possess basic knowledge of personal computers and software applications, such as word processing applications, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Successfully accomplish an annual internal standardization evaluation.
  • Currently possess, or demonstrate the ability to obtain, a SECRET clearance.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from customers.
  • Possess a basic knowledge of Department of Defense (DOD) and military standards relating to the acquisition and/or development or modification of training devices and the contractor logistics support of training systems.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of current Air Force Quality Test Guides and Air Refueling Test Guides
