The General Manager - Supply Chain role will enable and support the transformation of a large, corporate IT department. Delta seeks to improve all aspects of IT through continuous improvement, such that the department becomes the first choice of technology providers among the many alternatives available to Delta's business units. Strategic Supplier Management is a key pillar and focus in the IT transformation plan. 

The GM will be a sourcing professional who also has current solution and solution provider domain knowledge in IT infrastructure, network, communications, and security. The GM will own key stakeholder relationships with multiple IT and business unit teams for these areas. The GM will be an effective people leader and team manager.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Lead a team of supply chain professionals who will work closely with IT and business stakeholders to recommend solution options, procure and implement technology infrastructure, network, communications and security technology solutions aligned with business needs, target architectures and future requirements

Lead a team of professionals who own the RFx process across a broad supplier base, including bid proposals, contract creation, scope of work/SOW creation, and negotiations. Close interaction across SCM, IT, Legal and Finance and supported business units

Act as trusted advisor/consultant to IT and business units with regards to supported portfolio scope/categories

Effectively negotiate with vendors/suppliers, outsourcers, and contractors to achieve best value contracts for Delta

Work closely with IT and business stakeholders and supplier partners to establish and optimize Service Level Agreements that effectively mitigate Delta's risk

Establish and nurture truly strategic, proactive rather than reactive relationships with key technology suppliers

Drives continual process and solution improvement and optimization, and inculcates this approach in the team

Establish and own an effective Supplier Performance Management program for key suppliers in supported portfolio. Design risk out of supplier relationships at earliest possible stages. Monitor and proactively mitigate emerging supplier issues at the earliest possible moment

Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization's executives, decision-makers, stakeholders, department heads, and end users

Proactively and effectively manage costs and generate savings across supported portfolio

Work closely with stakeholders to design, plan and manage effective infrastructure Refresh cycles. Potentially own, or co-own with IT, key asset management functions for supported portfolio

Work closely with technology stakeholders to rationalize and drive technical convergence at the procurement stage, when and where it makes sense to do so

Manages Delta spend in the $100M+ level. Manages team budget. Manages projects as required



Job Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of demonstrable experience in strategic sourcing and procurement of technical infrastructure, network, communications and security solutions

Minimum of 2 years of successful leadership of a strategic sourcing and procurement team. Demonstrated ability to create, nurture and optimize strategic supplier relationships.

Four-year degree in relevant technical, business or engineering areas required. Graduate degree strong plus.

Demonstrable knowledge of current IT technologies, processes, protocols, architectures and frameworks

Demonstrable experience with ERP, sourcing, procurement platforms. Knowledge of SAP and Ariba highly desirable

The following skills and competencies are strongly preferred:
oAdvanced knowledge of procurement/purchasing practices
oExcels in managing work and balancing multiple simultaneous priorities
oProficiency in research and analysis, financial analysis, negotiation, communication, risk mitigation, consensus building, forecasting, and contract management
oCompetency in process design and continual improvement, financial assessment, consensus building, change management, performance management, team building and resource planning and management
oStrong computer skills and knowledge of the MS Office suite, reporting tools etc.
oDemonstrated ability to create highly effective teams
