The IFS General Manager of Business Development will lead the divisional strategy practice, working closely with the senior IFS team to support division short and long-term plans, ensuring projects/program management practices are defined, tracked and communicated in a consistent and effective manner while guiding the team towards positive results. The successful candidate will act as strategic advisor and resource to divisional leaders displaying the high quality thinking necessary to recognize core strategic issues and produce meaningful and detailed strategic and operating plans (return on investment, productivity, compliance) that will ultimately be reviewed by the executive team. It is expected that this individual will provide guidance and support to divisional leaders, acting as a trusted advisor and partner in support of improving the overall division's performance and profitability. He/she will also support the divisional team with annual strategy reviews to ensure alignment with the overarching corporate strategy. This position will interface directly with all areas of IFS as well as cross-divisional teams to develop and execute initiatives to improve IFS operations, customer service, employee satisfaction, safety and financial performance. It is critical the successful candidate be able to quickly establish rapport, credibility, trust and respect with peers, subordinates and senior managers. The successful candidate will be a leader who will demonstrate strong business acumen making decisions, will provide alternative perspectives, and when necessary, will challenge conventional wisdom. The successful candidate will bring a value-added contribution to the senior team decision making process. The position is based in Atlanta and will report to the Senior Vice President, In-Flight Service.
Work closely with divisional leaders to build strategic plans.
Ensures key divisional projects are completed on time, and with high impact and tangible results. Ensure visibility for all departments on projects; communications and planning for the year.
Ability to assess/diagnose business opportunities.
Create business cases to support strategic direction and facilitate change management
Identify and prioritize action items and develop and implement solutions that leverage data to achieve sustainable success.
Effectively communicate and interpret complex operational strategic vision and methods for a "non-technical" audience
Instrumental in building divisional strategic plans and then project manage those plans to positive outcomes; adjusting where necessary.
Deals effectively with complex projects entailing frequent interface with senior level individuals.
Responsible for consolidation of annual divisional plan; motivating force supporting leaders' work with finance to present plans to executive team.
Develops both strategic & tactical plans that create a safety-conscious environment resulting in employee safety & well-being.
Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent work experience in a related field required; Masters level degree preferred
10+ years of relevant business experience required
Airline or equivalent experience a plus
Must have a passion for improving processes and identifying new solutions
Demonstrated ability to deal with complexity and think strategically as well as innovatively
Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills required, with an emphasis on seeking input and understanding concerns of other stakeholders
Must have strong performance track record
Experience developing and implementing a sound strategic plan
Proven ability to organize, prioritize, handle time constraints and manage shifting priorities
Strong quantitative, analytical, statistical and conceptual thinking skills.
Assertive and confident thinker with ability to push the envelope; action oriented and capable of helping to define strategic options, scenarios and consequences
Positively resolves conflict and removes obstacles to change; creates an environment where established ways of thinking can be provocatively challenged and evolved
Must be performing satisfactorily in current position.
