Welcome, and thank you for checking in about the opportunity to join our team as a General Manager-LGA Redevelopment Headhouse.
The assignment is for the LGA Airfield Reconfiguration/ New LaGuardia Terminal C project and is limited to the duration of the project. Reporting to the Program Director, the Headhouse General Manager will be responsible for the successful construction and implementation of the headhouse component of Delta's $3.9bn new Terminal C project. The successful candidate's responsibilities shall include:
Managing the headhouse construction program while minimizing impacts to landside and airline operations, in addition to providing strategic and executive direction to senior staff on the various consulting firms and trade contractors hired to execute and deliver the headhouse portion of the construction program, while coordinating closely with all other aspects of the program. The Headhouse General Manager will work closely with the rest of the Delta construction management team including the Deputy Program Director, the Commercial Manager, the Design Manager, the design team, the systems and integration team as well as the General Managers responsible for Airside, Landside and Field Operations.
As Delta will directly hold all construction trade contracts and be supported by an agency Construction Manager providing oversight of all construction activities, the successful candidate will work closely with the Construction Manager in daily management and coordination of trade contractors as well as in coordination with the Port Authority, internal stakeholders and other relevant entities during the execution of the project. The successful candidate shall be responsible and held accountable for managing all aspects of program cost, schedule, quality, safety and diversity compliance for the headhouse portion of the project. Additionally, the successful candidate shall be responsible for liaising with numerous other stakeholders including terminal and airline operations, various government agencies, security personnel, the Port Authority and other airport entities and contractors working on the airport.
A Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management as well as a minimum of twenty years of professional construction experience holding senior positions on major commercial construction and capital improvement programs, as well as having held a senior position on at least one major aviation construction project with a total project value exceeding one billion U.S. dollars. The successful candidate must have an extensive understanding of airline operations and major terminal building design and construction. Must possess knowledge of the New York construction market and have a successful history of working with the New York trade unions. Must have extensive experience working for and with general contractors as well as working in a multiple-prime construction delivery environment. The successful candidate must be able to effectively work with and lead a team as well as possesses strong analytical, managerial, financial, decision-making, coordination and both written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to work in a fast paced and stressful construction environment, with the ability to perform with a high degree of competency and accuracy.
